Its not set in stone yet, my source told me he and Babcock scheduled a golfing trip after the 1st round of the playoffs to evaluate options.

scarface or the swede

- homiedclown

Why do you like Scarface or the Swede? I agree with Pach on his coaching assessment. I think Vingeault would be a good, experienced coach to bring in. I think Coach Q would pull a Babcock and not sign with Buffalo.

BTW - Heartbreak Ridge was a great movie. Loved it when Clint took down Swede with one punch.

I don't think he can...just looking at the results--2nd team in nhl history with a 10-game winning streak that will miss the playoffs, lost three in a row to T.O., the first time that happened since 1972...and not only that, they regressed since their November run
- Michael Pachla

Three? We have lost 5 in a row to TO

Bottom line is the Sabres game plan stinks. They force play to the point. They grind the puck down low, a forward tosses a lazy pass to the D-men who shoots a poor shot or tosses it back behind the net. My favorite is the weak backhand pass that slides slowly to the point. The pressure is immediately relieved and the opposing D group resets. Last night, Toronto did that so few times and created more chances. They were buzzing around the faceoff circles. It didn't help that Buff's forwards were not collapsing and wanted to hang on the D-men. Work hard to keep the puck down low and create from there. When the forwards collapse, make a crisp pass to the point for at least a shot on goal with a chance of a rebound. I understand you have to make passes back, but they seem to do it more often than not.
For all the haters, I like Girgs and Johan. They grind down low better than anyone on the team. With their PK and hard work, they are solid 4th liners for the money (value). I hope they stay. Okposo loves the back-pass and needs to be taken off that line and moved to the 3rd line. If Buff can find another player who fits better and can possible finish a better, that line will serve its purpose.
Buffalo needs 3-5 new solid players to complete for a playoff spot. Thompson was lost again last night. Glad pommer was out, Sobotka, Sheary all need to go. I get Botts brought these guys in, but they just didn’t work out. Skinner did. Maybe it’s just luck.
It starts down the middle. If Jack is the 1C, and Mitts is the 2C. Sabres need to replace a lot! The D-core is set for 2020. Everyone is signed except McCabe. They can swap a D player if needed. I doubt you will see a big change there.

Doubt it happens, but I would like to see Pekar added to that line to transition to the NHL. He may or may not develop into a top 6 role, but I could see him fitting right in with Girgs and Larry.

sometimes it takes time to get it right...mulligan for botts on the Housley hire
- Michael Pachla

Do you know that jbotts hired housley and not the pegula's?

My guess is he wanted to hire tockett, someone he was familiar with from Pittsburgh

Choice between soft player vs. Hard nosed guy.
Lots of tough guys succeed as coaches.

Lindy ruff is a good example

I thought I would like Boucher as a coach, but not so sure he is really any good. I see a familiar pattern in his coaching history:
Tampa Bay
Year 1 Lose in ECF finals
Year 2 Miss playoffs
Year 3 Fired

Ottawa
Year 1 Lose in ECF finals
Year 2 Miss playoffs
Year 3 Fired

Player A and Player B are the key.
We need 3 players on the 2nd line to score a minimum 60 goals combined.
3rd line needs to score 45-50. Erod gets a spot on the third with Okposo.
4th line is 25 goals and play PK and win face-offs aka Goose.
Mitts has a few years to develop. let's hope he toughens up quick. He should be the 3C and we are back to 3 solid players.

skinner-eichel-player A - I cant see this being an easy fix
Nylander-Casey-Skunk - the kid is obviously ready
Oloffson-E-Rod- Thompson - This line is easily replaceable
girgens-larry-okposo - suck me sideways this blows

Dahlin-Karlsson - fat titties
Borgen-Montour - reliable titties
McCabe/Pilut-Bogo - tough titties

I mentioned the players being upset about how the Sabres management treated burgland.

People in these parts dismissed it immediately.

The Sabres cut him , without seeking help for him.

The players put themselves in berglunds position, having a family, getting mentally ill and losing out on 16 million $

Sabres could have suspended him, although they had every right to cut him.

A hard nosed player probably gets laughed out of that locker room.

The Pegulas are pieces of crap as human-beings.

You don't get filthy rich being a nice guy. Berglund should have been suspended and mandated to seek counseling. Instead they threw him away like trash.

I love my hometown teams. I would even be a Braves fan if they were still here. But everything else about them is gross and toxic. Buffalo is one of the few "big" cities in America still losing population every single year.

There is a reason no one wants to be here. This place is a nasty pocket full of bitter and aggressive locals who drink too much and eat too much and wallow in their own self-pity.

There are a few good ones, but too many bad ones. Like John Lennon said, too many babies born from the bottom of a whiskey bottle. This tough love attitude is counter-intuitive. Time to actually be the city of good neighbors once again. Won't happen with the black widow and Forest Gump sitting atop the castle on the harbor.

Then the hard nosed coach starts flipping out, instead of chewing his gum.

Maybe yells and actually gets pissed

Why, so their core can continually under-achieve again every year? Their window closed this year and Quennville ain't gonna fix it.
