Mostly a hope, but it does seem as though he wants to stay. I think the frequent injuries (and his production dropping after being moved lower down the line-up) will help them sign him.

Okay, but I'm not seeing how that defeats my point. The fact remains that they still pursued those moves despite having literally every reason to say "no, we're building for the future". My point is that they've proven both a commitment to making moves to win and the evaluative abilities to do so efficiently.

They pursued those moves.... but if they're an average expansion team I bet none of those moves happen. All of said players controlled their own futures.

My point is what they've been able to do was a direct result of what I mentioned previously. It's not as easy as you make it out to be.
