I can't find the exact quote from Jim Rutherford but it was on the teams improved defence since acquiring Gudbranson. Saying that since they have acquired Gudbranson the top 4 pairs have been both lefty-righty, which before was 3 lefties in the top 4.
Quote from Babcock
he had a jaw-dropping quote about the Jake Muzzin trade, noting his (then) roster of five left-handed shots, saying, “It’s not perfect — it’s what we got. It’s what was available and we’re going to make it work.”
5-4-1 since acquiring Muzzin - manvanfan
IF Hughes can play the right side as well as the left, it definitely helps the depth long term. I do think it is a bonus to have natural righties/lefties |

Yes, top 8 would be nice. Puts JB in the driver’s seat in later rounds to. |

I don't think there is as much to fix as people think. There is stuff but not huge holes.
I think Canucks will make trades Virt Hutton Tanev Sutter and maybe if lucky Goldy.
I think they will send Loui down unless he has a huge hot streak
The additions of Leivo Pearson Sautner eases the pressure.
I do think they will trade for a RHD and I think they get one top 6 forward in free agency. - VANTEL
I consider the majority of the defense to be pretty significant/difficult to replace. Especially with Edler/Tanev getting older and OJ being far from a lock to become a future top 4 dman |

I just examined the stadnings. We are most likely finishing 9th or 10th worst. Time to prepare for picking 10th or 11th this draft. |

3 top 6 forwards and 3 top 4 D needed for next season. That's six of 18 players, or 1/3 of the roster. I'd say that's significant. |

Good for Gudbranson
https://www.tsn.ca/pens-g...-been-very-good-1.1276926 - VanHockeyGuy
“That Schultz injury was a huge problem,” he explained. “We had to use three lefties in the top-four, and that’s tough. Now you see the difference with guys playing where they’re supposed to play, and with (Chad) Ruhwedel and (Zach) Trotman in there behind them, that’s really good depth on the right side.”
Thank you very much VanHockeyGuy |

If Mr. I'm in Disneyland ends up being right I'll gag. I think they go 3-4-1, finish with 81 points, pick around 7 (hoping no one jumps up in the lottery) |

Hayal's model of building a roster says Van needs a top line LW, 2nd line RW, 3rd Line centre, Two top pairing defenders. |

I'm including Edler as one of the top 4 D - he isn't under contract. Tanev is your #4 guy, Stecher your #5 guy, lots of 6-7-8-9 guys.
I don't think anyone other than Bo/Boes/Pete are legit top 6 forwards. |

Ferland, B.Nelson, Gaudette fill those holes.
Defense will be a strong committee approach with 6 top 4 dmen after adding Gardiner/Myers
Replace one of Nelson or Ferland with Skinner or Panarin if you can fit that under the cap
Maybe Karlsson instead of Myers |

I don't see Nelson an upgrade over Pearson. Anders Lee would be.
Limited options on physical top line compliment forwards but I would hope they put up more than .60 pgg. Some say Burrows was not 1st line worthy and he had two seasons over the .60 ppg.
Gaudette, I agree could fill the 3LC hole. |
