Any info on Maksim Sushko? He had a big year with Owen Sound last year and a nice showing at the WJC, but his offensive numbers are down this year (I know that Nick Suzuki has missed half the season due to his trade).

I bet that was part of it. The book on him also is that he’s a streaky player and with that tendency and lacking his supporting cast from last year, it’s not hard to see a downturn year.

The scary thing is there are 3 other goalies in our organization that could be just as good.

Hart in the league leaders in save percentage on NHL.com. Weird seeing that.

I know Hart was brought up kind of out of necessity at the time, but last night i was wondering. If Hextall was still here, would we be seeing Hart or would we have had to watch Alex Lyon or mike Mckenna finish out the year?
- J35Bacher

If Hextall were still here, Hakstol would still be here, and we would be contending for Jack Hughes instead of watching interesting hockey.

Babcock is a bum, hasn't been out of the first round in almost a decade.

Q sucks, he got fired. You don't fire good coaches.

Scotty Bowman lucked into good teams for like 20+ seasons.

I think even good coaches can run their course, it may have been time for him to end in Chicago.

Usti's slated to make the jump to Vladivostok next season? Looks like they were running a 23-yo and 21-yo tandem this past season, but Serebryakov's contract runs out after the year.
- Tomahawk

Back in January, Chuck Fletcher said he was interested in signing Ustimenko and bringing him over to North America next season. That would mean Ustimenko likely would have to be willing to spend at least one season in Reading and then 1-2 with the Phantoms. Otherwise, yes, VHL will be his next stop in Russia.

Just ask longtime Sabres fans: Scotty was fantastic in Buffalo, both as coach and GM, in between the Montreal dynasty and then Pittsburgh, Detroit and Chicago .

All kidding aside, much of the luster had worn off Bowman's rep in Buffalo and then he subsequently rebuilt it in act 3 of his career (although he was unpopular in Pittsburgh despite winning a Cup, and it wasn't really until Detroit that he truly cemented the legend that had started in Montreal).

I could've coached that Montreal team to the Cup!

Yeah, but could you have coached them to 4 str8 cups.🤣
On a related note, one of those years the Habs had only single digits in loses. Can't remember if it was 8 or 9 but that was a hell of a run.

To be fair to Bowman's time in Pittsburgh, Bob Johnson was kind of a tough act to follow, in terms of Bob's personality.

So, back to back against the top two teams in the Metro this weekend. Do we start Elliott Sat against the Isles and hope Hart shines against the Caps?

I think you have to play Hart Saturday depending on how other games turn out you maybe play him again Sunday. They have 2 days between the Sunday game and Wednesday game against Toronto.

If they lose Saturday then Elliott plays sunday.

i think everything right now depends.

If Flyers win Saturday and Montreal and Carolina both lose...then I might just need Hart Sunday.

I really think they ride Hart until they are eliminated. Then they probably throw some games to Talbot.
