I could see that but I don't see both Edler and Hutton back . - VANTEL
I think Benning believes both those guys are quality, NHL dmen.
I also think it will be easier to resign their RFA’s and depth UFA (Schenn) than to sign UFA’s on July 1. |

|
I don't see Benning rolling with that during a season where his job is potentially on the line. We'll see though. - Nucker101
Didn't you say yesterday the NHL is designed to fake parity?
I believe this is your comment
Artificial parity baby
The majority of the league is “.500” or above |

Must be nice - Nucker101
People were giving love to Gillis the other day I heard. They must have forgotten how terribly bad he was at drafting.
Think if he would have drafted Erik Karlsson, Marcus Johansson, Brendan Gallagher, Rickard Rackell, Brady Skjei, Horvat and Theodore.

I believe he does think both are NHL Dmen but he also believes Hughes is a star. So Hutton would be your third pairing and needs to be qualifies at 3.1? mil and probably wants 4 mil .
Is he that much better than Sautner at .865 K |

Yes I did lol, not sure what has to do with Benning needing potentially needing to make the playoffs to save his job though.
As much as I make fun of FA, I'm sure he's not dense enough to realize by now that ".500" is a low bar in this league. It's a fine goal for this season, but I doubt he'll be cool with a similar season again next year, especially if Benning opens up his cheque book this summer.

If Hutton walks then I expect him to sign a UFA or trade for a dman, I don't see him banking on Hughes right away to be a top 4 dman, especially since Green seems to have JB's ear when it comes to off-season pickups.
Didn't Friedman even say that the Canucks really want to acquire a top 4 dman that's in that 26-29 age gap after trading Gudbranson? |

If Schenn is asking for more than 1.2 mil he will be playing in France |

Let's hope they pick him before the draft. Can Van can get Edmonton's 1st for Hutton straight up. |

Yeah, it will be around the max amount that can slide to the AHL. |

He certainly did and I have been saying for months Canucks will trade for a Dman
That is a RHD , Left side is fine |

No, I don’t think it is, but I also don’t think $3m for Beagle was money well spent, but Benning does, so who knows. |

I think he said young 20s... like 22-24?
I can see them trading Hutton midway through the season if injuries don't pile up. |

Green knows the situation too, if Benning gets canned next year, Green's on thin ice too. I'm expecting to see the dollars fly this summer, whether it's through trade or UFA. |

Benning just said last week he does not intend to be a big player in free agency.
I agree enough already. I do like Beagle and Roussel even though everyone else doesn't . Now is time for trading and drafting.
As I said yesterday I see less holes on the team than most and yes I know you guys think I am nuts. |

So that leaves him trading for a top 6 forward. God help us |

They keep saying they are on the same page (owner-management), and that it takes time, requires patience etc. I hope this is true, and it’s why I don’t think the team will be much better next year than this. A little better, but not playoffs. |

Well I wonder what he means by "big", because he may just be talking about not going after Karlsson, Panarin, Bobrovsky, Duchene, etc.
I don't think anyone here dislikes Roussel, he seems like a fan fav already. A lot of us do not like Beagle's contract, considering his production, age and 4th line role.
Honestly, I do think you're nuts with that opinion, I only like a handful of players on this roster
And anyone who visits this site daily is at least a little nuts |
