Agreed, which is why I don't understand their reluctance to see how Talbot looks as part of the tandem. If you brought him over to be Harts mentor, why not give him a few starts? - jmatchett383
The twlvot trade has been mind blowing and the first strike against fletch. They pushed hart too hard and he played poorly for a few games then got hurt.
Hmmm....boy does that sound familiar this season....
I wonder how Talbot feels about all of this....sitting there riding the pine game after game. At this point the season is over. Get Talbot in and get Morin in |

Go figure..
Everyone's favorite Clown was totally silent and missing during the stretch when they were winning...
So predictable that you have showed back up in force now. |

Missing the playoffs for the 4th time in 7 years. Boy they sure showed me didn't they?
I'm flattered you have to continue to make it about the person posting instead of the product on the ice. Love it. |

I am not talking abut Fletcher; thats a whole different conversation no?
The former GM went into the season with 2 average goalies with prior health issues. That was and is a complete and utter failure.
He did nothing to address the defense; a defense that needed some help.
He did nothing to address a piss poor PK unit.
So blaming hextall isnt a lazy narrative at all - daryl stanley
You brought up the fact of Hextall not moving assets, didnt you? Addressing the D isnt needed if the top 2 D-men played like it instead of tire fires night in night out. If the training staff said Elliot was healthy and good to go, Hextall should ignore them and make a move? If players should the growth that was expected the PK would of been better.
What you just posted was the lazy narrative using hindsight

Nothing to be flattered about ..
I have been unhappy with this team since November.
I thought Hexy did a great job drafting and building a young nucleus and I thought he failed abysmally with the on ice product which you just can't do year after year and expect your fans to be okay with it.
I thought both Hexy and Hak should have been fired simply for going to into the season with Elliot and Mr. Glass as your tandem.
Where we will disagree, beyond your normal pleasant posting nature, is on Gordon. I dont think he is a horrible coach and would be okay with him starting this next season of course if they can get Q then im in favor of that more. |

The Flyers have a tough road ahead if they don't make a bold move and snag Panarin. It's not going to be pretty in Philadelphia for a while yet.
Their direct competition in the Metropolitan division alone have significant X-factors and star power that the Flyers just can't match.
Penguins have Crosby, Malkin and a proper established top goalie and number 1 defenseman (Provorov this season has proven he's a ways away from that).
The Capitals have insane depth and pure star power in Kuznetsov, Ovechkin, Oshie, and Holtby.
The NY Islanders have elite coaching (while the Flyers play around with unproven rookie coaches) and this season have established top goaltending. They also have Barzal.
The Rangers are in a complete rebuild but they've also had the luxury of having HOF goaltending since Lundqvist put on a Rangers jersey.
The Devils have had top quality goaltending but this season aside they have generational talent in Hall once he gets healthy. They're rebuilding a bit as well but have a nice secondary talent in the making with their Swiss phenom.
The Flyers have a pair of aging stars in Giroux and Voracek and have made some strides this season with some of their youngsters. Most unbiased people if asked would rather take the combos of Ov/Kuzy or Malkin/Crosby over G/Voracek. |

It's even more depressing when you realize how the Flyers really should have had at least one cup from the Lindros era and didn't with further salt in the wound for landing JvR instead of Kane before the NHL overhauled their drafting system.

Should've been able to get one with Lindros but I'm honestly more pissed about the last 5+ years of not giving our core enough to work with while building for th future, and building for the future with a middling team not allowing us to get higher draft picks.
Ever team needs to rebuild at some point. This franchise is always trying to cheat the process somehow. |

Unfortunately the team is run by a corporation who focus on things like marketing (Gritty, Taryn Hatcher, and fan / sponsorship events). They're bottom-lining the market and looking at it in a different way than Ed Snider did. Similar thing happened after the Phillies won in 2008 and they moved on from Gillick and brought in that corporate yes man that basically ruined the team within a season and a half.
Other unfortunate swing and misses on 1st round picks in Laughton, Rubstov, and possibly Morin are starting to take it's toll on the team as their forward depth is shockingly barren. |
