I don't want to see anyone get hurt but ...

- JimmyP

hahaha.. I will never root for a guy to be hurt, but if it gives them an excuse to have him miss the remainder of his career I would not be too upset.

Would really like to see them resign him for another 2 or 3 years... what a turn around story. Seems to love the fans and the environment on long island .

If they sign him for less than 5 mill it would be a fantastic 1/2 punch until Sorokin finally shows up in the US. Then you can trade one of them...

Whalstrom should just stay in school. If nothing else to prove he is capable of putting up big numbers in that league.

Isles may not be happy with the way he was handled at BC (that's just speculation, not an actual fact) and would prefer to handle his development themselves. He's already got a pro frame. I guess we'll just have to see what happens.

I don't have a problem with him getting a young start in the AHL. The fear is that he gets out-muscled, out-worked, and ends up discouraged but the upside is that he'll still be real young when he's got a few pro years under his belt. If nothing else he'll learn how to play both sides of the puck.

He will be 19 by then if he leaves and kids start there at 20 well 99% so hes not far off the younger end. I wonder if the size and speed at college was issue, he plays at a hockey powerhouse that puts out a lot of NHL players so I'm not sure development is the issue but what do I know.

BC was really pretty bad this year and I think got largely propped up by their goalie. There's concern about Wahlstrom's compete level and his ability to drive the play, rather than be a passenger. That's a problem that gets fixed in-house, if the Isles think they can do a better job than BC at that (which I would tend to agree with, given the level of respect that Trotz/Lou command). I'd much rather have Lou putting the fear of god in the kid that he's never going to make the NHL if he doesn't bust his ass on every shift.

Difference is that I am EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY educated. Not just extremely educated.

It is true though. Woll had a real strong season .919sv% and a 2.41GAA is pretty great on a weak team.

Pens have the rangers and wing in 3 of their last 6 games, watch them pass both the isles and caps

I won't put anything past them. They have plenty of flaws but when those guys want to flip the switch and turn it on...it doesn't take much. I'd really like to finish in first and not have to see them in the first round.

That final game of the season against Washington is looking like it's going to be quite a matchup, as of now.

Yea this is going to the wire but the isles can beat the pens or caps in my opinion. Crosby does kill this team historically yet the pens have had trouble scoring 5 on 5 of late

I think the Caps are the absolute worst possible matchup for them. I'd rather play almost anyone else.

Well Tampa and Boston aside yes they are big and physical and the isles aren't great with those teams. They have played great games against the caps since the last playoff series. If I'm any team going into a series vs the isles I'm taking a penalty on any high danger scoring chance and making the power play beat me

Yeah I meant out of teams they could realistically play. Boston/Toronto is already set and Tampa is going to play the 2nd WC team, which ain't gonna be the Isles. Really we're only looking at the prospect of playing PIT/CAR/MTL/CBJ/WSH.

G Joe Woll was first @BCHockey player to sign following conclusion of their season Saturday night. Only speculation, but I doubt David Cotton (CAR) and Oliver Wahlstrom (NYI) are far behind. Be shocked if either return to school.

Wally time?

Bridgeports PP. I would be absolutely floored if they brought him up to the big club. I'd like to see what he can do in the AHL though.

Not instantly, no. Yet he plays a position of need, and Ho Sang doesn't appear to be an option. If he shows well right away in the Bridge, I wouldn't be shocked if he got a sniff.

He could potentially be one of the black aces that tag along with the big club for the playoffs, but I have to imagine he'll be pretty far down the depth chart.

It'd be nice to see him added to the AHL roster for their playoff run. He could be an asset for them, even if most of his TOI is mainly on the PP.
