I wonder what will come out the most when people talk about Marleau in the future.
How he was a good player for so long in the NHL?
How he managed to be good AND healthy for so long in the NHL?
or
How long he played without winning anything? - Scabeh
Winning the cup with the Leafs and going into the Hall in blue and white |

OMG, can you imagine?
At his HoF induction ceremony, Marleau is gonna flip the Sharks hat to the floor and picks up a Leaf hate from the table? It will forever be known as the "hat flip" heard around the world.

It was implied. I confess.
I have yet to make an official prediction for the Bruins/Leafs series though. - Scabeh

Per multiple sources, Harvard junior D Adam Fox will return for senior season, opting not to sign with Carolina Hurricanes. Favors becoming free agent next summer. Great news for Crimson and college hockey as a whole.
RHD ...will be a solid get for Dubas when he signs with the Leafs |

Next year?
Have you lost faith in this season already?
I think the Leafs have as much of a shot at the cup as anyone else.
Except Tampa who simlpy has a better chance than the others. |

Yeah but being the player who played the most games.
And you never won anything.
I hope that's not the case, because I do believe the impressive part of his career is staying healthy while being so good for so long..... but it will be brought up.
Unless of course he wins something this year or the next. - Scabeh
This is where, once again, Wedgie sounds like a grumpy old man where he rants again about one of his favourite unpopular opinions:
Much like Mike Gartner, I don't think Marleau should be in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
His claim to fame is that he's played an awfully long time at a high (but not elite) level in the NHL.
No major awards.
3 (and only 3) All-Star Game appearances.
1 (and only 1) season above 40 goals.
His best ever season was 2005-06 with 86 points - good for 19th in the league in scoring.
In 22009-10, he was 14th in scoring - I think that was his highest placing.
Never named to 1st allstar team
Never named to 2nd allstar team.
And the#1 Wedgie-approved criteria: did anyone ever go to a game with the primary purpose of seeing Marleau?
Nope.
To me, he's a fantastic player who remarkably played for a poopload of time.
He was never one of the sport's greats.
I wouldn't vote him in (but I guarantee he'll be inducted). |

I love this plan, except for the fact that you are confusing Cooperstown with Yonge and Front - hockey players do not go into the HHOF tied to a team. |

Only once he breaks Howe's record for most games played, will he be guaranteed a spot in the Hall of Fame.

He's already guaranteed a spot - voters put a preference on longevity of career.
I think the only exception is Curtis Joseph. |

I know, but it would still be pretty cool though, right?

Would be a nice add. He unfortunately doesn't want to sign with a Canadian team though I'm pretty sure.

Depending on what Kap and Johnsson get.. Or, if Zaitsev can't be moved. We may have to look at moving Kadri.. We all know that Marleau is staying next year too. I mean he doesn't really scare anyone anymore.. Also, we are not in a position to spend over $4M on a 40 point, 3rd line C - PatC80
40 point?
Uhm
He has the third most goals of anyone on the Leafs the last three seasons.
Two 30 goal seasons. An unlucky year doesn’t scare me. His contract is good, he will be a keeper. |

This year? Kadri has 40 points... So, yeah..Uhm... 40 points..
What role does Kadri have right now? he's no longer the "shutdown" guy, he's more a decoy on the PP now too..
I like Kadri, he has value, but he might be a cap casualty and I'd understand why |

Getting in the hhof isn’t that hard. Lots of guys in there mostly because of politics. Playing with the leafs will help his cause. |

I think he gets in based on that remarkable longevity at a high level. Very, very few can manage it. As a long distance runner I'm surprised you don't appreciate his endurance as a HOF qualification.
Also, he will go Andreychuk\Bourque styles this year and add a big silver exclamation point to that career. |
