It looks like Buffalo will be picking 5 or 6 in the draft unless they get super lucky.
From Bob McKenzie's mid-season draft rankings. I always like his rankings because they are based on what NHL scouts tell him.
"No. 5 is Dylan Cozens, a big, strong and powerful 6-foot-3, 181-pound centre who plays for the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Cozens is a unique story, born in Whitehorse in Yukon Territory. Cozens has 25 goals and 58 points in 45 games this season. He’s the opposite of Dach in many respects. Cozens is a shoot-first centre with a tremendous shot. He is a fast and powerful skater who plays a bullish power game.
Seven of 10 scouts had Cozens in their Top 5."
I like the sounds of Cozens, but maybe the defenseman Byram would be worth grabbing if he's still on the board. Who do you guys want at pick 5 or 6? - 100goalseason
Welcome to the Cozens Train!
This team needs a scorer who plays a hard game, maybe add some of that coveted truculence!
Having the chance to select the player one wants rather than settle for leftovers is a key reason for continuing their drive to the bottom.
If the team is going to absolutely suck, might as well get something positive from it. |

Sounds A LOT like what happened with ROR too
Heck... it sounds like what happened with Larsson & Girgs when i said “they aren’t that bad, just used incorrectly in the top9”
This year, they’re finally put into 4th line defensive roles...
and surprise, surprise- they’re actually DECENT players for us
So much about a players production has to do with HOW THEY ARE USED
It’s just bonkers that some can’t realize that - jdfitz77
L
Let's not confuse production with effectiveness.
Sobotka, Girgs, and Larson simply don't produce, even for 4th liners.
They maybe somewhat effective in their defensive play, primarily with flipping the ice...but production..no.
If they could somehow dump all three and use Wilso, Erod and even Okposso I'd be for it.
Okposo only cause he is apparently here for sometime...unless he decides to hang 'em up. |

If Housley comes back next year, you will see a mass exodus of season ticket holders. - ImThatGuy
Fans should (they won't though) send a rather strong message to management by staying away from the remaining home games.
Imagine if they came to the game and saw say 15000 open seats.
Might give them cause to pause. |

I’d keep Larsson if he wants to stay. He’s good on the 4th line. I think he wants out though. |

Kim: Terry and I are not happy where we are on the season. I've learned in sports to have more patience to have then I want to have. I don't want to knee jerk anything. It's been a long season but we are not happy.
Terry: I think Botts said it pretty well that he supports Phil. Something has to change but we don't know what. He's a young coach and was a great player and he can grow as a coach.
Kim: Jason already said we aren't making a coaching change, but we'll evaluate everything after the season. We don't know if we will add another layer to the hockey department.
Terry: We knew after the 10 game winning streak we are not this good. We are not the #1 team in the eastern conference

Cozens could go 3rd, more likely 4th. At this rate we could get him. |

The other thing I like is that he's probably overcome a fair bit of adversity as a player since he's from Yukon. Theoretically, that should serve him well as he transitions to the pro level. |

After listening to the interviews and reading the tweets, the Pegula's have no clue how to run a sports team. We are mother (frank)ed for a long time to come. I expect no hockey czar and Housley to be back. Next year will be worse, regardless of what they do this summer. They can't get anything right. More of the same. |

It is very sad really. |

Just exactly how much of a Richard is Eichel?
People on Facebook (Sabres Mafia) are wondering if there is some internal discord that would cause Berglund to leave $12M on the table and walk away. ROR to jump ship, terrible non-trying effort seasons, it’s pathetic.
Maybe Berglund didn’t want to be a part of a coke addicted culture because of past issues. I don’t know.
Reino sniffing powder all night and showing up to practice play can’t be a good look. And if his bike riding partner is ok with it, the he isn’t much of a captain. It’s fine for the rad Party Boyz of hockey buzz to brag about how much coke they enjoyed or sniffed off of Roys keester, but that’s just people talking poop on hockey buzz trying to sound like the 1990s party master.
I find it inconceivable that professional athletes can slug back booze and sniff coke all night and show up to work. If the captain or the captains first mate gets a pass, that could’ve pet of the problem.
See how many naps Eichel has on game day? Either he’s sleeping one off or trying to stay away from reino the coke fiend.
In today’s nhl you have players who take their health seriously and eat the Gerbe eats to lengthen their career earnings period.
Maybe there is a real douchenozzle that people hate playig with no matter how much coke or money they get?
Inquiring minds want to know... any thoughts?

I don't mind Larry, I don't. He draws an inordinate amount of Dzone time and face offs and is largely effective...although he has shown he loses coverages in his own end down low.
I don't like his production of 13 pts...I expect on average 20 minimum from 4th liners...10/10 should be the minimum requirement IMO |

I’ve said it countless times.
8 years of suck. 1-2 players that I wouldn’t consider moving.
1 top 8-10 Center. Eichel. ( I’d move him and risto for Barkov and Huberdeau)
1 cornerstone d-man. Dahlin.
It’s so damn embarrassing
How is that possible? |

They need him, IMO.
I said back in Dec/Jan that they need more truculence...a young winger like the Tkachuk boys.
And probably another in the bottom six ...hoping Pekar can make it, he would be ideal. |

I read on another site that at one point last season Housley literally had his hands around Jack's neck he was so fed up with his attitude. Guy who posted claimed to have a source in the room.
If true, I think it's time to move on from the entitled brat from Bahstan.
