Looked at the Icehogs boxscore tonight to view Kyrs & Olofsson insertion and wondered whom would be omitted. I wonder if AEL_FOX is surprised that prospects Hillman & Knott did not suit up..Don't know but presumably they were the healthy lineup scratch
In this contest the Icehogs lost (4-2) their second consecutive game but with more games left than their parent Blackhawks perhaps they aspire AHL playoffs.
Kyrs did have an assist but that is all I can say based on stat sheet. Well. Austin Watson in his first game rehabilitation down from Nashville, scored twice. Forsberg in net after Delia allowed a boatload of goals last time out. Knott was a scratch with Olofsson instead.
Anyone see the game please feel free to comment on TOI and impression Kyrs and Olofsson. |

Besides the obvious d man that been mentioned truboa peace gardier what other likely defenseman should the hawks look to acquire via trade free agency. And what kind of trade package would it take assuming a trade happens. Remember if saad is traded that hole needs to be filled also. Also consider most of the young dman coming up are smaller more mobile being paired with big physical stay at home defense man would IMO make sense. - Scott1977
I am guessing that the future defense will consist as many as five of six offensive type and only heavy sort who can match up physically against larger forwards. Therefore the forwards as a team overall must support/help defense well. Would we see this in a 2 1 2 Colliton system?

I don't play the lottery or gamble at all BUT if I did I would bet all I had on Boqvist becoming a descent defensive player and special offensive player. Big game clutch and some astounding big point nights in his NHL future. If Bowman & Colliton supports him right on a second pair he could be good. I would expect at least one AHL season as a prelude. |

Yeah, long day for me. Best you're going to get. Plus, it's not in my nature to go out of my way to piss people off, and it's the Internet, what damage can be done anyway?
Saw the Krys pass ... that was Kane-esque. Very nice! |

I watched the Hogs game. Besides the sweet no-look assist by Krys, he was not good the rest of the game. Errant passes, got beat 1-on-1 every time, and occasionally has positioning was way off (either wrong side or pinching at weird moments). Hopefully it's just the case of first game jitters as he does skate really well otherwise.
Olofsson was a non factor. Even when I keyed in on him, he didn't do much of anything. The only time he was noticeable was when he took faceoffs.
It's not too surprising where the Predators get their bush league style. The Admirals play the same way. Watson and Salomaki played and they're both still bumholes at the AHL level.
Watson's first goal was the result of him giving a nasty crosscheck to Campbell which allowed him to bat in the puck uncontested. Campbell was pissed off breaking his stick over the crossbar afterward. |

I think it was last century by a few decades. Around the same time I tried kidney beans, artichoke hearts, pig's feet, black eyed peas, sow's ears, finger sandwiches, smoked butt and other disgusting body parts.

A few other observations from the Hogs game:
Although he was more impressive earlier in his time on the farm, Jokiharju was also underwhelming in this game like Krys. Jokiharju played too passive, often being at least a stick's length away from the puck handler. Just not engaging and actually somewhat lazy at times.
In comparison, Jokiharju's fellow Finn and D partner Tuulola was by far the best defender on the Hogs, IMHO. I really enjoyed watching Tuulola play because he engages the puck handler, gets in their grill, rubs them out, and isn't afraid to muck it up in order to protect his goalie. He also double shifted a lot, especially when Gilbert sat out half of the 2nd after a temporary injury (he skated in the 3rd).
Carlsson and Gilbert seem to be the Hogs top pair. Carlsson had a steady yet unspectacular game as he skates well, takes the body, and sets subtle picks. Like Tuulola, Gilbert was the standout of his duo, though. Physical is one word to sum up Gilbert's game. He skates fairly well, too.
The 3rd pair was Campbell with Krys.
Louis is a really fast and fluid skater with nice moves and vision but he gets pushed around like a rag doll. On one play an Admirals player ran into Louis at the blueline and literally sent him flying 5-6 feet across the ice. Can't really see him surviving in the NHL.
And watching Fortin be a non factor in a minor league game makes you wonder how he was even considered for an NHL call up. A player with his speed should be noticeable every shift but he does nothing much at all to be a disruptive force on the ice. |
