I will be disappointed with any name that is not the Seattle Metropolitans.

- just about all those names are bad:
#1 "Sockeyes" - ok, I guess
#2 "Totems" - when I hear this I think of slow, pylon-like defensemen (e.g. Scuderi)
#3 "Rainiers" - I wonder if they would want to keep using the name if Mt. Rainier ever actually erupts (which could affect Seattle)
#4 "Emeralds" - has no connection to the area (as far as I know there are not any gems mined in the area, certainly not emeralds which are rarer than diamonds and also fragile/brittle)
#5 "Seals" - already used by a past NHL team
#6 "Evergreens" - see comments for #2
#7 "Sea Lions" - probably the best name of the bunch, but only because the others are bad
#8 "Cougars" - basically already used by Florida
#9 "Eagles" - probably the second best, but probably won't be used as it is too plain
#10 "Whales" - see #2 and #5 above
#11 "Renegades" - agree with article
#12 "Firebirds" - agree with article
#13 "Kraken" - agree with article

They have to come up with something better.
