The same amount of people between Jim Rutherford and Pittsburgh's ownership, and Todd MacLellan and Capitals ownership.
I'm not opposed to a President of Hockey Ops in principle, but I don't believe it's necessary either. - buffalofan19
Mario Lemieux is the owner...i'd say he knows a thing or two about hockey
and do you mean the same Brian MacLellan that played over 600 games in the nhl and won the '89 Stanley cup as a member of the flames? |

I heard that jack likes it. He asked to be choked.
He liked getting his pee pee slapped by the previous GM.
Botts told him no, so he had to settle. - ImThatGuy
Such a shame Tim Connolly isn’t here anymore.

Kim Pegula - a former waitress - now the President of two professional sports organizations. What a joke.
I am the CEO of a small company. I communicate really well with my employees. However, if I/we didn't produce RESULTS, my a__ would be fired in a Texas minute. Owning and running a professional team is all about the results. That's it. Thus, while Terry has been learning how to be an owner (8-years and counting) and Kim has been learning how to become a President, the loyal Sabres and Bills fans have continued to #suffer. I especially feel bad for the fans that pay for season tickets. They deserve a 50% discount next year.
Enough of this crap Terry. Hire a true, professional President for the Bills and President for the Sabres. These two individuals report into you - that's it. You let them make all the decisions. All you do is cut the checks and sip cocktails in your owner's suite with the likes of Robert Kraft and Jeremy Jacobs.
Lastly, if Housley isn't fired at season's end, then I have to question Botterill's judgement. Until now I have been giving him a pass but no longer if Housley remains on the payroll. And his replacement better be NHL experienced. Hopefully it stars with a "Q". |

How much of a say in daily hockey ops does Lemieux have? Could be wrong, but the general thought is that he keeps himself out of it for hte most part.
On MacLellan, a GM with experience versus a younger rookie? That's a completely different discussion. |

And Wayne Gretzky was a terrible coach.
Scotty Bowman never played an NHL game.
It's not an exact science. Luck plays a huge part in it.

I know that the win streak caused a lot of false hope, but no one thought the Sabres would be good this year. Most experts predicted 78-81 points.

It's been very disappointing, but no one should be surprised. I fully expect Housley to be back and about 1/3 of a roster turnover (through trades and replacing FAs with AHL guys and a few signings.) If things aren't significantly improved Housley should be replaced around Thanksgiving. |

Let's not pretend that if we had their results (i.e. never past the 2nd round), most fans still wouldn't be calling for him to be fired. |

Just a thought, but looking at the Sabres staff directory, it appears they don't have very many voices in the room when it comes to player personnel decisions.
Is it possible that a more collaborative effort in the front office would help mitigate things? |

Took you long enough. 😉
That's two of 31 teams and Columbus just (frank)ed themselves for the next 10 years.
I'm not saying I wouldn't want a DOHO, but if the previous gm just allowed the rebuild to play out, we wouldn't be sitting here like this discussing it.
Nor would we have Dahlin, I suppose. Which brings me back to luck... |

The point was that there's no exact science.
The best players in the game have varying levels of success when it comes to the move into management or coaching.
And cement heads who you'd think wouldn't have a clue many times get the most out of it.

It just seems to me like you guys have a MASSIVE scouting department, but only like three guys to analyze the information and make decisions. |

it helps, when you have owners that don't know the business. Obviously they don't! |
