Oh come on, Edmonton's not that bad.
I mean, it's got a mall...
...and...
...uh...
...a parking lot outside the mall...
And the weather's really nice for six weeks during the year... - Atomic Wedgie

The Leafs are playing out the string. Trying not to get hurt and saving it for the playoffs. This is not the team that will face the Bruins.

That (frank)ing goal where he was anticipating Rielly's pass behind the net, while leaving the entire crease unprotected, was outrageous
It was a puck battle. It wasn't like Rielly was coming away with that 9 out of 10 times |

He made TWO passes on the same shift in the offensive zone that missed by so much that they ended up on Andersens stick... |

I've already made peace and accepted the fact that it's highly unlikely that this team will do any damage in the 1st round. I've even kind of lost interest in watching a full game here lately! Each game is predictable, either get an early lead and blow it or start off slow and trying to play catchup the rest of the game. The have a really difficult time playing a full 60. They have done very little to instill confidence in me that they can go on a run. This team is simply not buying into showing a commitment to a defensive style game, or even improving it. If they try to go all defense, no one can score, if they start scoring goals, defense is out the window. They are unable to provide adequate scoring and adequate defense at the same time.
I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see them doing any damage to the Bruins. |

Sadly, I agree with 99% of this post.
Sorry.
Edit: let's see what they look like with Dermott and Gardiner back. |

if the Leafs are healthy and we get Muzzin/Rielly/Dermott/Gardiner for the whole series I feel they have a decent chance. the odds makers have it at basically a coin flip.
a few other things that are encouraging is the Matthews/Nylander combo is heating up. Freddy tends to go up and down, he has been down for a bit now..but he also tends to bounce back with elite numbers. Can only hope he is back to steal a few games.

Personally, I think the more voices out there writing the Leafs off before the first puck drop the better. |

More the problem is Toronto expects and demands its goalies always cover and shore everything up for the shoddy play of the team in front of them. It goes back to Palmeteer, Potvin, and only got worse as we got veteran goalies like Cujo and Belfour etc etc etc... it is always the goalies fault in Toronto for not carrying the team again and again and again.
They're the last line of defence not the only one. This team needs to learn some responsible play in their own end, stop relying on the goalie to cover up for them all the time and enough playing rec league pond hockey out there.
Freddy ain't the problem. |
