Columbus lost to Boston. Isles are guaranteed not having to play Tampa.

Not yet. They're about halfway through the 3rd period. (Sorry, my post was unclear.)

3 - 1 Detroit over Pitt with about 8 minutes left.

I’m not as concerned about Carolina because if we can’t beat Florida on Thursday then....
If we can get out of tonight with Columbus and Pitt both losing, that’s a pretty damn good night.

No problem. I thought I saw on TV it was the end of the 3rd before? These teams with nothing to play for are really tough to beat. Remember Cappy's Isles were world beaters at the end the year and nothing left to play for. Cappy was actually having the team play a proper D system.

I'd like to avoid a wild card match against the Caps. A Carolina loss would have guaranteed that wasn't happening. Like you said, we OUGHT to be able to beat Florida........even though we haven't beaten them this season. It's the Curse of Cappy (he's still behind the Florida bench as an assistant or associate coach).

It's going down to the wire but I wouldn't sweat it too much.

I'd love to see them get home ice. The Penguins losing tonight is huge. I think if the Isles win one of the last two in regulation they will have the tiebreaker against Pit.

EDIT:

It would come down to goal differential since they both earned 5 points in their head to head match ups this season. Currently the Pens are leading by 2 in goal differential. The Isles control their own destiny, but one slip and they lose home ice.

Row wins is the first tiebreaker and we have 1 more so if we win one game the pens need to win both of theirs (isles win 2 its moot)otherwise we win the 1st tiebreaker if not then it goes by head to head then goal differential
