Depends on your opinion of overpaying.

Overpaying to me is paying more than any other team to entice someone to sign.

That we can't do. However, I wouldn't say with guys like JVR and Tavares that it is only about reclamation projects/3rd tier guys and I don't believe them to be massively overpaid for what they bring. Karlsson is that guy this year. Hayes is the Bozak IMO.

So, yes and no?

Really I can't see why any FA would want to come here. I realize Money talks but how much more are we going to have to pay out to get players to come here....

No idea. In terms of offense, defense and goaltending, that would be the least important of the three to me, personally, but purge on I guess.

Having them both back, and seeing what we have in UPL doesn't seem terrible. Boring and uninspired, but it's hard to imagine a big move with so many other needs and a real prospect coming.
