I and others are clamoring for an improvement next year in the top 4 D. McNabb is under contract for only 2.5M for the next few years. That's not going to effect the cap that much. A veteran UFA D will cost twice as much. If any of the Hawk prospect D men are better than McNabb in 2 years he could he traded or exposed to the Seattle expansion draft.
The Gus contract situation will be an interesting dilemma for Stan. We'll see what happens. - boilermaker100
No doubt, and I should have stated I love you ideas and hope it happens! Just alot to put together. I guess I've been a contrarian hockey fan for 30 years. Let's give Stan the benefit of the doubt (at least another year) to make the right moves, correct?

The Hawks could them take Nils Hoglander in the 2nd round. Maybe Daniel D’Amico in the 5th. - DarthKane

My opinion let's just keep drafting the skilled midgets. Usually 1 of 10 work out, our ratio is way better! |

6-3 offensive defenseman with good shot (right handed) and wheels. Late bloomer who really blossomed this year. He was chosen player of the year in FEL. In 59 games 19 goals and 32 assists with Lahti Pelicans. He has played one year in NCAA with Western Michigan 2015-16.
Chicago might not be the best fit for him though. |

I'm actually watching the game now. I've been so busy, I haven't had a chance to listen to your music recommendations. |

In the Herald yesterday, John Dietz had a piece on the Hawks titled, "Hurting Hawks: Toews, Kane express frustrations over another disappointing season"
Here's an excerpt...
So now what?
Does the ax fall on general manager Stan Bowman, who put this roster together? His off-season additions of Chris Kunitz, Cam Ward and Brandon Manning did little to help. Still, he had little salary-cap room in which to work and did manage to:
• Unload Marian Hossa's burdensome cap hit.
• Pull off two impressive in-season trades that brought Dylan Strome, Brendan Perlini and Drake Caggiula on board.
Those additions, combined with everyone becoming more comfortable in coach Jeremy Colliton's system, were big reasons the Hawks went from 9-18-5 on Dec. 11 to 26-28-9 on Feb. 24.
The playoffs were within reach, and McDonough suddenly was starting to look like a soothsayer.
But Bowman made no moves at or before the Feb. 26 trade deadline.
It was a decision that, according to a source, dumbfounded the veterans. Their thinking was, look, we made this run. We're right there. Give us a little help.
This other Hawk article from Dietz ran in the paper the same day, "Why Blackhawks' 'situational awareness' must improve".
It was something Colliton wants the players to work on, more in terms of in-game situational awareness. It had nothing to do with players being aware of the state of the team, nonetheless, I enjoyed the irony. |

not ot mention picking hamill's 20 million tab...not a fan of that...he pitched well and they needed too with darvish out...that money better spent in bp help...
but pitching is the achilles heal of modern MLB...injurys and breakdowns of highly paid pitchers kill teams...
they don't makem like they used to...the starters of the of 60-70' if they didn't go 7 - 9 innings it was headline news... - bogiedoc
Game has changed since we were kids back in the 50s/60s/70s.
Pitchers used to get batters to put the ball in play in two or three pitches - not so many good hitters who could hit the ball out (or juiced balls), not so many deep counts, not so many Ks and walks, mostly fast balls (easier on the arm parts) until they had to bear down. If someone got on with a single, get the next guy. They could pitch a complete game on 100/110 pitches. Also - a faster game.
Now - everyone can hit the ball out, many more breaking and off speed throws, strikeouts and walks. They can’t get through the fifth with less than 100.
Twenty-five man rosters used to have 8 pitchers, your 8 regulars in the field, and 9 playets on the bench. Now it’s 13/14 pitchers and maybe 4/5 on the bench.
Most sports have gotten better in my lifetime. Baseball hasn’t. |

Watching the morning news up here and it's Opening Day for the Tigers. The news people are talking to one of the vendors who has lots of hot dog offerings and the question comes up "ketchup or mustard?"
How is that even a question?
Ketchup on a dog is like putting mayo on corned beef.
Btw, Detroit Coney < Chicago Style Dog...but still good. No Vienna up here though...and no Portillo's. |

The only thing I use ketchup for is when I use it to make sweet and sour chicken. My brother used to butter toast, pour a puddle of ketchup on his plate and dip the toast into it. But he also put ketchup on pizza. We have a deli in Toronto called Shopsys that has the best dogs in Toronto. They make good corned beef too. The best place I've ever had something like corned beef that they name Montreal Smoked meat is a little place in Old Montreal called Shawartz's. It will remind some of the iconic New York places, if you take too long to order or ask a million questions they ignore you and go on to the next person. |

Sort of, Montreal smoked meat is sort of a cross between the two. I think Montreal smoked meat is seasoned like pastrami but brined and dry rubbed where the other two are brined and seasoned. Either way all three are excellent. If you ever get a chance to go to Montreal make sure you find Schwatrz's if you like that kind of food. |

Had a Smoked Meat sandwich in Montreal once, but unfortunately not at the iconic place, Schwartz's. It was ok.
If you ever get to Detroit, there are a lot of great Jewish delis that do a really good CB and/or Pastrami sandwich.
Ketchup on pizza? That's disgusting. A burger's about the only thing I put ketchup on.
A buddy of mine told me about Shopsys when he was living in Toronto. Vancouver has a really good place called Japadog. I was there once. Darth's a fan IIRC. |

I find Ketchup on pretty much anything is disgusting. A burger needs tomatoes, lettuce, fried onions, hot banana peppers and a bit of yellow mustard. |

Yes, let's hope Stan make a few changes to the roster this summer. A lot on his plate for sure this summer and next year with the Gus, Cat and Strome contracts and cap management. |

Hey Bread. Don't know if you've had a chance to backread, but earlier he tossed out a few more:
Sausalito Summerlight - Diesel
Convoy - CW McCall
Run Joey Run - David Geddes
Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas
Billy Don't Be a Hero - Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods
The Night Chicago Died - Paper Lace
A Heartbeat is a Lovebeat - The DiFranco Family
The Beat Goes On/Switchin to Glide - The Kings
I scrounged up some of the You Tube videos below. Enjoy...

Did not read back. Thanks!
To add to the new conversation, ketchup on a hot dog is gross. Weird, considering what it is made out of ... ketchup isn't bad to me, but it's a last resort as far as sauce goes.
I'm not a burger person. I honestly don't know what happened, but it was a long time ago. I look for chicken sandwiches anywhere I go.
There aren't any good deli places close without going downtown. There was a place in Chicago Heights called Bergstein's, it was good for awhile, but it's not anymore and way over-priced. |

If we put Cat on a line with Caufield and Anthony Louis we'd have a whole line with no one tall enough to get on a ride at Great America. - EbonyRaptor
I don’t know about Louis, but any line with Dcat and Caufield on the wings is going to score a lot of goals. |
