Did not read back. Thanks!

To add to the new conversation, ketchup on a hot dog is gross. Weird, considering what it is made out of ... ketchup isn't bad to me, but it's a last resort as far as sauce goes.

I'm not a burger person. I honestly don't know what happened, but it was a long time ago. I look for chicken sandwiches anywhere I go.

There aren't any good deli places close without going downtown. There was a place in Chicago Heights called Bergstein's, it was good for awhile, but it's not anymore and way over-priced.

There used to be Al's Deli on Dixie Hwy (in Homewood I think). It was good, but it's been gone a while.

Chicken over burgers is certainly the smarter choice and I for the most part get chicken (grilled) because it's a better choice. When we were in Chicago last spring I had the Italian beef at Al's, as we walked from Downtown to Wrigley field, those sandwiches were amazing. I have really begun to like Indian food, Chicken Biryani, tandoori chicken, chicken rogan josh ... amazing stuff!

Schmaltz's in Naperville is pretty good. My go to place was Mort's on Wabash between Randolph & Lake. No longer exists unfortunately.

I have several relatives that are ketchup addicts. I've had to ban it from family bbqs so they won't ruin good brats and polish I get from the meat market

Not much difference between 9 and 15. It’s all a crapshoot anyway.
- Ogilthorpe2

I wouldn’t call this bunch a crapshoot, but the degree of separation is minuscule.

Love Indian food. For an awesome beef try Johnnie's. Best in Chicago Land.

Ketchup on any sausage sandwich should be Verboten, but absolutely on brats and Polish.

Getting back to hockey. Good night for 19 and 88. Great for Ward, a couple posts saved him, but I don't blame him for the first 2 goals. The third one, he has a hard time keeping his leg flush with the ice. Gilbert looked good, minus the penalty. He's big, hits, smooth skating, head's always up, good passing, and doesn't panic with the puck. Small sample, but good outing.

Bad plays here and there that the blue waffles were able to get a good look out of. LOVE beating them!! Would rather they not get the loser point. Great effort from the hawks in a game that meant nothing. I still like seeing them compete.

It took me a few tries to get over the unsual taste that was unlike anything I'd ever eaten. Another great thing is West Indian food, Jerk pork or chicken with Rice and peas, Fish stew, Goat roti, doubles, souse and pepper pot.

Jerk's good. Don't know if it's still there but you ever been to that Portugese place in TOR, Chiado?

Chiado's is very good for Portuguese tapas and port. Portuguese pirri pirri chicken is excellent, Pirri is not so good at hockey. There is a chicken only restaurant called Nandos which is very good, they have them in the U.S too

Sort of, Montreal smoked meat is sort of a cross between the two. I think Montreal smoked meat is seasoned like pastrami but brined and dry rubbed where the other two are brined and seasoned. Either way all three are excellent. If you ever get a chance to go to Montreal make sure you find Schwatrz's if you like that kind of food.
- paulr

Haven't been to Montreal or Detroit but best sammich evah - New York deli pastrami - 2 inches of lean pastrami on rye with a big honkin kosher dill ... oh yeah

You lost me at goat. Can't do it. Jerk food, never tried. There's a questionable place by me that's all jerk food ... it's across from a Lou Malnati's. My decision is made for me every time.

In the Herald yesterday, John Dietz had a piece on the Hawks titled, "Hurting Hawks: Toews, Kane express frustrations over another disappointing season"

Here's an excerpt...

So now what?

Does the ax fall on general manager Stan Bowman, who put this roster together? His off-season additions of Chris Kunitz, Cam Ward and Brandon Manning did little to help. Still, he had little salary-cap room in which to work and did manage to:

• Unload Marian Hossa's burdensome cap hit.

• Pull off two impressive in-season trades that brought Dylan Strome, Brendan Perlini and Drake Caggiula on board.

Those additions, combined with everyone becoming more comfortable in coach Jeremy Colliton's system, were big reasons the Hawks went from 9-18-5 on Dec. 11 to 26-28-9 on Feb. 24.

The playoffs were within reach, and McDonough suddenly was starting to look like a soothsayer.

But Bowman made no moves at or before the Feb. 26 trade deadline.

It was a decision that, according to a source, dumbfounded the veterans. Their thinking was, look, we made this run. We're right there. Give us a little help.

This other Hawk article from Dietz ran in the paper the same day, "Why Blackhawks' 'situational awareness' must improve".

It was something Colliton wants the players to work on, more in terms of in-game situational awareness. It had nothing to do with players being aware of the state of the team, nonetheless, I enjoyed the irony.

Thanks for sharing this. I think we talked a bit about this around here at the deadline. Selling/Buying or doing nothing, all send a message to the guys on the ice. I think the "underlying message" with much of the Hawks moves the last 2 years is don't sacrifice the future to win now. I think the vets get that and the "dumbfounded" might be a strong choice of words. That's just my feeling anyway. It is entirely possible that making the right move to buy at the deadline would have gotten them over the hump to get into the playoffs, but hard to think they'd be going all the way. I think most people here appreciate that the Hawks are playing the long game on improving the team. (no that doesn't mean tanking)

At schwartz's they offer lean, medium and fatty. fatty is gross, lean is good but the regular is the best. you can either get the sandwich with 2 inches of smoked meat on rye or you can order the platter and it comes in varying sizes with a stack of rye and you assemble the sandwish yourself. It's the best way to take the sandwich out so the rye doesn't get too soggy. They also have the huge kosher dills. If you're ever in Montreal look it up it's very good.

Goat is like lamb or mutton. Once you get past the idea the food is bad try some, you'll be surprised. And I say that from experience, my Mom was a Brit who had no idea how to cook, she either boiled the crap out of everything and then added salt and pepper or cooked it in grease. I was fine with that until I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried different things. Now I look back and have no idea how I liked my Mom's cooking?

I didn't get to see the game last night, and haven't read back. Anyone care to feed my laziness with a quick synopsis of how he played?
