Some of his former employees opened a joint that’s supposed to be pretty good. Forget what it’s called though.
- Ogilthorpe2

There's a good place up here called Doug's Delights. Only open in summer. I think they use a Vienna product, but could be wrong. Whatever it is it's natural casing.

Was opened by the same people who have a foodie place called Mabel Grey's that has won some awards.

I haven't eaten there in forever so you're probably right. And actually now that I think of it there was a place on Devon by California named Wolfy's that was pretty good. We used to drive there for lunch in high school when we first got wheels. Good memories there too.
- EbonyRaptor

Wolfy's and Flukey's. Wolfy's is still there and still good. Flukeys is pretty much gone, the last one is in the Walmart on Touhy ave, but it's not the same.

Never been a big fan of Superdawg.

edit: Wolfy's is on Peterson just east of California, not Devon.

A former boss liked a place called Hub's, I think there was one in Skokie and another somewhere on Western.

Its why I said to trade him at the TDL. To be fair to Gustafsson he has been better in his own zone of late. His main problem to me is his tendency to have one of two completely WTF moments during a game. Its almost as if he loses concentration.
- Elbows15

And what if Gustafson regresses next year and is only pacing for 35-40 points (while still lacking defensively). The trade return for Gustafson might never be higher than this summer. He is coming off an elite offensive production season, with the team who acquires him getting a full year of service opposed to less than half a year after the trade deadline.

Would be interesting to see what a Draft Day Gustafson trade could fetch back....

My hope for Seabrook is that he finds him game again and deals with whatever physical issue is holding him back. I don't think the issue with him is upstairs in how he thinks the game. He has talent, skill and hockey IQ, but something in his body language isn't right. He still has a lot of attributes that help the team even today, but if he can just right the issues, the Hawks will be much better off.

I’m as big of Seabrook fan as there is, but there’s no getting around the fact that there’s a lot of hard miles on that frame. I don’t know if there’s anything that can be done.

Yeah - not if the Hawks win the lottery - only if their pick out of the top-10.

I don't know what is "too much" to pay for Trouba. It's all a little like monopoly money to me. I suppose I'd cash in a couple hotels on Boardwalk and Park Place and pony up around $7.5M for him. Don't know if he would agree to that but I don't think the Hawks should go higher than that.

- EbonyRaptor

7.5 is a lot for Trouba considering the signings of Cat, Strome, Kahun the following year.

He is a #1Dman and only 25 years old.

23minutes per game, PowerPlay1, 48 points in 82 games played, excellent defender....HUGE part of the Jets so they will do anything they can to keep him.

Yep, you're right - it was on Peterson. Memory is a little foggy. I remember driving to Fluky's with my first car - a 1962 Chevy Corvair w/3-speed manual trans. I bought it from a guy in the neighborhood for $200. Didn't know how to drive a stick very well. One of the first places I went was Fluky's. Killed the engine coming out off the parking lot and blocked Western Ave. My buddy and I pushed the car back into the parking lot before the cops came along to find out I didn't have a driver's license (I was only 15). Ah ... good memories.

For burgers, it’s Paradise Pup in Des Plaines, on River just south of Oakton. The Merkts cheddar char burger is nirvana.

The other location is on the Northwest side of Chicago. Lincoln Ave. Really had good food. Another location in Skokie is Dengeos don't know if you have tried it out. But the food is very good

BTW - all this burger/dog joint talk and so far no mention of Superdawg on Milwaukee just south of Devon. It's a travesty I tell ya. The place with the dancing hot dogs on the roof. It's a Chicago institution.
- EbonyRaptor

Best. Fries. Ever. And try a shake. Vienna makes a special hot dog just for Superdawg. There’s one in Wheeling now too, next to Bob Chinn’s Seafood. Which is also an outstanding place.

I second Paradise Pup. Burgers are great, and the Chicken sandwiches are just as good. Watching the 3 brothers dance around thar small place is a treat too.

I think Seabs could go either way. Last year 80% or more of the posters thought Toews was finished for the same reasons. Just saying..... He was never a fast skater. So he would not have to turn into Apolo Ohno.

Getting healthy? Better summer work out regimen? Whatever Toews did?

You never know.

What was it, like a 2 to 1 or 2.5 to 1? Pretty sure they had dogs that size. Know they had a 3 to 1.

Did ever fully recover from that big hit by brower a few years ago. He can still play but not as a top 4 d man. If he can play 15 to 18 minutes he can be effective. Plus a lot hard miles on him

Whooper-cheesey?

Meh. Great childhood memories, but it’s more gimmick than great.

over-priced and over-hyped. Give me a couple of dogs from Jimmy's any day. The so called Chicago dog is actually two types. Jimmy's does the one I prefer to perfection.

Yeah, Bob Chinn's is a great place to pig out in large groups. Those buttery garlic bread thingies are awesome.

I remember eating there once and sitting next to a table with Brian Urlacher. I believe it was his rookie year.

That's where my head is it at with Gustafsson's situation. What is the likelihood he has a repeat 60-point season? I'm sure he will be an offensive force but, as you alluded to, even a regression to 40 points next season can impact his trade value, especially if his defensive game stays the same.

His trade value is guaranteed to be high at the draft or in July. No guarantee it will be that high at the 2020 TDL or later.

This is where a hard decision by the front office to just decide now (i.e. is Gustafsson a short-term Blackhawk or long-term) would really help the team's overall personnel. Make the decision now and live with the consequences later. It's not like the D prospect pool is dry of talent.

Boqvist is very, very good, I have seen him probably 30 times on TV and twice live. And while it's possible he could play in the NHL now and bypass the extra development he runs the risk of being a one dimensional guy like Gus. If the Hawks want a fuly developed player it's imperative he stay in london next season before playing in Rockford for a bit to get used to the pro game. I would really hate to see Boqvist become the next Leddy, Gardiner, Gus or even Karlsson, none of whom can play defense to save their lives, although Trotz has Leddy playing better "D" than I've ever seen him play.

Your post does put things in perspective. How we view our prospects should take a page out of how you compare to other drfendrmenn who have bern around for a while

If you like garlic - and I do - Merichka's in Crest Hill has yummy garlic poorboys. I get extra garlic butter so I've got garlic seeping out of my pores for several days afterward.

Peep’s, the hot dog place of my yoot was just torn down

I’ve since realized that it was never the greatest, but your first favorite always holds a special spot. And the lady who ran it, we called her Mrs. Peep, was a real trip. Fire engine red hair, and a shrill voice that I can still hear.
