Ditto.
An average Italian Beef is better than the best Philly cheesesteak.
You want something similar. Go to Buena Beef and get a beef w/provolone and sweet peppers. It will be better than Pats, Genos or any of the other Phillys.
A roast pork sandwich from DiNics either with or without broccoli rabe is the sandwich to get in Philly - TheTrob
Plus, not that either would ever be confused with health foods, but the Chicago Beef seems less unhealthy....or at least less fatty/greasy.
I take mine with the Broccoli Rabe |

E.R. ………..are you from Joliet? I was good friends in high school with a guy whose dad owned that place. He was a big Hawks fan, had season tickets. We're talkin' mid 1960's. Height of Hull and Mikita era. Don't think that place has changed much in all these many years. lol - BobP.
No, I grew up in Andersonville and Rogers Park neighborhoods - Senn High School. My first wife turned me on to Merichka's back in the mid-70's and I go probably once a year to OD on garlic.
They did some remodeling 10-15 years ago but it's basically the same place. |

Probably, I think they concoct plans to poop on Chicago in every single sport. Goddell keeps giving us golden legged kickers. |

yes it is...baseball has stranger things happpen than hockey...
but really the cubs pitching pitching this season:
49.1 IP, 46 Runs, 61 Hits, 41 Walks
umm thats not snake bit, or not getting a bounce or whatever...and it can't be blamed on the weather...something is systemically dysfunctional with the entire pitching staff |

This season it sure looks like in with the red, out with the blue. Philly not too shabby but see how.far they go with their pitching. Toast the Brewers but winning division is a tough task....maybe they fatten up against Cubs or maybe just win the division series. I'll rate you one for two on creditibilty regarding the pictures. |

There is a place here in Detroit called Rocco's Italian Deli and he does versions of Italian subs/sandwiches: Sub, Beef, Meatball, Prosciutto & Fresh Mozz.
Never been to DiNics but have wanted to try one of those when I've been out East.
Rocco's does one (oven roast pork with sharp provolone and sautéed broccoli rabe) that's quite good, though I'm not sure that was the one he was modeling his after.

I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know but on short ones, that North Terminal has next to nothing in it.
With DTW being a Delta hub, that terminal (MacNamara) is pretty nice and actually has some decent choices for food. They put a Zingerman's Deli in their a few years back. Bigalore for Neapolitan style pizza, and Cat Cora's Tap Room are all pretty decent. |

Madden on why he pulled Darvish early in a 0-0 game
Maddon after being asked if Darvish weakened some: “He could have continued. He was not weak. He actually pitched really well. Part of it is I wanted to get him out while he was pitching well. I wanted to make sure he left the game feeling good about himself.”
This why Madden is well so maddening. He makes a decision based on a players pyche? and gives it to a BP that has been pitching batting practice?
Geez..Darvish is making over 20 mil. He is a pro. To hell with his pysche...

Too easy to form that conclusion.
It could be argued your way but i believe what i say below is a more accurate assesment or reflection.
Darvish has struggled to be consistently pitching well and also remain healthy. I don't know if he could have pitched another inning or two with good results.
I do suggest that the track record of the bullpen in past year or years had been descent to good. That bullpen needs work to straighten itself out. However Edwards might just need to wirk on his delivery in bullpen sessions.
The Cubs are playing like the flubb dub Cubs. They have too much ability to continue to waffle.
Hey tomorrow morning is a new beginning for Cubs. A waffle sounds like scrumptios breakfast. |

if he is making decisions so his starter can "feel good" what is he going to do with the collective "shell shocked" psyche of his bp? take them after they get a guy or 2 out and bring in rizzo? maybe he was in a now win scenario, darvish stays in and he blows up in another inning or 2...

Cubs need bullpen to get work. Perhaps he didn"t trust Darvish to get through another inning unscathed. Yeah sure it is a weak arguement about the psychology of his pitcher leaving with a good feeling.....
But I can imagine Madden thinking just that. There is a lot of uncertainty with this staff. Coming out of spring training you should try to get everyone some work in. The bullpen has a track record of being descent and to be just that - descent- those pitchers need to pitch live and not BP sessions.
Just trying to understand Madden"s thinking on it all. |
