If Jim was going to give him head why is the deal not done yet? Maybe Benning is playing hardball. Last I heard was they were not really close . It sounds like up to now the line in the sand has been drawn. - VANTEL
That's ideal.
That will make everyone come up with new ideas, even if the cap hit is higher over two seasons. |

You're an ass...
Did you just lay out another sob story to make me feel guilt?
Stop it. This is the internet. You can be anything you want to be. You can be king kong for (frank) sake. No need to post personal information.
I am as mad at you as you are with me. I think it's low-form to bring in person life situations just to make the other poster feel shame or embarrassment or whatever. Everyone has a poopty life story but don't drag it into here. The poop we do in here ain't that important and it's not a place to find sympathy.
Call me a (frank)ing dink and then let it roll off your back. But in all honesty I think you get me confused with other posters. The only personal thing I've given you grief over is that throat picture you posted and maybe some of the antics you did when you were young like beating people up in Vancouver alleyways. I have two young boys so sexual abuse is something I would never ridicule anyone over.
Either way, I'll keep that episode out of the public conversations from now on. - bloatedmosquito
I confronted you over it. It was never ever brought into anything I said here.
Who the (frank) are you to get anyones face about any of it.
I also dont know why you keep making comments about Booner and PMs? Its almost entirely you who shows up in my PM box. Not the other way round. The PM trolling are the roots of my earliest dislike for you and you just got worse over the years.

If that's the case I'd do one year deals and let him be a UFA during expansion so then he can turn down the teams and after the expansion draft sign him again |

Benning has all the leverage in this negotiation with Edler. Make him the lowest priority signing this offseason. Double back at the very end and see if you even think you need his services. Absolutely no point in making Edler anything but the lowest priority for getting him signed. |

I know. Why is Edler not willing to do anything like that.

Your idea is good about the two years , the only danger for Edler is injury or if there is a new GM. Otherwise good idea. |

Edler holds all the power until his current contract expires, simply because of that NMC. As soon as his contract is done, Jim holds all the power, and Jim SHOULD say to Edler "2 years or GFY, take it or leave it". |

Dude, that's wrong too. I've sent you 3 PMs over 8 years. Again, it's all in the history list. Do you want me to tell you how many you've sent me?
Please stop making me out to be a bad guy. Hate me fine, but don't make stuff up. |

I mean, that's not ALL the power. Not like Edler HAS to resign here, he just really wants to. And Edler knows the Canucks a) want him back, b) have no one coming up to replace his minutes and skillset, c) wouldn't be able to get someone that can do what he does in FA without paying out the kind of contract he wants.
JB holds a lot of the power, but it's not a one way street like you're saying. |

I say bull sh1t. Tyler Madden was taken 68 th and now if redrafted he would be top 31.
Brayden Pointe drafted 79 th has 41 goals
The list is very deep of good players including Jett Woo who were not drafted the first second third of their respective rounds.
You need a good drafting team. - VANTEL
I'm talking about playing the percentages. Give yourself the better odds. That's all. |

It's still dumb to give a 3rd year cap hit at $6M. Pay more for 2 seasons, he still wants to be here and we still need him. At the end of that deal, he's a UFA there's no protection required.
Having his cap hit exceed his value hurts in year 3, not before IMO. He WANTS to play in Vancouver, and he can sign his 3rd year deal as a UFA. |

I can live with the late season wins if they had more picks at least
Having a bad team pick 10th or later with just their own picks is just annoying |

This is what I mean. The lines you cross but it's people(singular) who mock opinions who are the villain.
I'm going to burn you every single time you get on your soap box about me. I let you off the hook and things were civil for a year but I told myself you wont get away with it in the future anymore. Stay off your soap box and you'll not have to face your history on here.
You are counting my responses to you as PM sent by me obviously.

2yrs at $7m handshake with FA for resigning year 3 & maybe beyond. JB cannot guarantee he will still be GM. |

I disagree. You need to explain your offer of 2 years, tell him what your plans are in 2 years. |

I can’t. There are so many better things we could do with his cap $. Things that actually HELP this team in 2-5yrs when it should be a legit contender. IDGAF about how we replace his mins next yr - so many ways to figure that out. |

Agents get paid a percentage of the contract they negotiate for their client. Negotiating a one year contract 3 times is more work than doing one 3 year deal.
They'd position it as "doing what's best for your family". More security for the wife & kids and greater chance you'll still be playing if they sign you for three years instead of 2. If you're injured then they may not re-sign you again in 2 years and risk losing $6MM. (Not to mention $500K in commission for your wonderful agent.) |

Nah, keep the owner out of it.
Also, both parties need to evaluate his value at the time. I doubt he'll be any less than bottom pairing. |
