It is if he doesn't pan out and ends up as yet another overpaid 4th line player - Powerslave
I don’t think that will happen at worst a 3rd line player hitting 20g a year and that’s worth 3m in today’s market
Jack made a old Pominville a star he can easily make VO have 30-40 goal with his nasty release it’s not hard to imagine

If Olofsson blows up, good for him, good for the team, he'll earn himself a multiyear contract, and based on experience, it won't be too high. Expectations, I'll keep him around 40 points for next season. If more, god bless him, it will be a glorious thing to see a 7th round pick actually work out for once in our lifetimes. |

So we should have extended Middlestat last year based on his end of year stint with the club? - Whatnot78
Casey is young VO is going to be 24 and has been in the pro leagues longer And has way more experience |

The anomaly here is Thompson. Every single prospect other than Thompson went to Rochester. Every one. I don't get it. - TheSabresTaco
Agreed. Just mind boggling.
Perhaps the 50-60 games he'd already played in the NHL swayed Botts to keep him up? Can't really think of any other reason why. |

I appreciate the non combatant view.
1 page - pommer only has 9 points because he played with jack
Another page- sam is on pace for 65 points. No mention of his time with jack.
I think both pommer and sam had good seasons
Well above expectations. (Mine anyways)
If trading sam helps this team. They need to do it.
If pommer returning hurts this team, they need to not offer him a contract.
Pretty simple - Boss34
I mean it's fair. You trade any player if it helps your team. And the point about Reinhart unable to produce with Jack is of the same truth as that vaccinations cause autism. It's been debunked universally.
I will trade anyone on this team to make us better. Trading Reinhart, that's hard to envision. |

I agree taco.
Who is the last late round pick to make a difference around here?
If jack and goaloffson play together regularly, I'm putting him in for more then 40 points |

It's spelled "bottling" bro
I honestly can't think of a single reason. Apparently he had NHL speed, size and shot. After 10 games, it was so clear how he needed polish. I'm dumbfounded by it. |

I don't see JB paying for potential and a nice 6 game stretch just because VO has played the game longer. |

A little back story on Olofsson. In 2012 Darcy hired Fredrik Andersson to be his amateur scout in Sweden. In 2013 the Sabres drafted Gustav Possler. When Regier was fired, Murray kept Andersson on. In 2013 he was scouting not only Possler with MODO but also wanted to take a look at Carl Grundstrom. He started to watch VO as he caught his eye and was intrigued. His scouting report to Murray was VO had an excellent shot and his spread and playmaking abilities were there but he needed to be tougher along the boards and show more grit.
Late in the 2014 draft, Murray asked Andersson to give him a name that would be worth a 7th rd pick. Murray's thinking was that player could stay in Sweden and develop. Andersson told him to draft Olofsson.
Olofsson should be the LW with Eichel next year. |

I knew Murray didn’t draft him
His service was never needed |

I don't think that helps us. If the Blues pick is #20 or higher the Ducks have the option to take it. If the Sharks pick is lower, they keep it. - Chris16
I think we need Columbus to win both games and the Blues to lose to the Caunks and then lose in the first round to get pick 19. |

I'm not saying the losing is falls solely on Sam's shoulders. 64 points is very respectable.
At some point though, maybe these guys need to be replaced with fresh winning attitudes.
Risto
Girgs
Larsson
McCabe
Bogo
Sam
Erod
They have all been here for a lot of losing. Maybe a fresh start is really what they need.
For the most part: I really like all these guys.
Something needs to change this off season.
The complete collapse/ tank mentality is so easy for these guys to slip back into. When the season starts going bad.
I see another 7 new faces or more.

But is 3m really that much of a overpayment when we have players on the team with 6 million that can’t do poop
Hopefully JB thanks about the bigger picture when he has Swedish Jesus to sign for 10 -11 million |

Good call
That's close to 20 years ago.
You would think "luck" would factor into this at some point. Hopefully goaloffson is that guy. |

We shouldn't be allergic to talent, just because they've been around losing. You'd get fired on the spot for an ideal like this. You get rid of players that either hurt you, want to be overpaid, or someone will give you someone or something back that will help your team more than that player. Sam Reinhart does not fit into these categories.

Homie- why are you still pretending that the Sabres went "all out" this season.
- Boss34
they didn't
I never said they did, and said they were doomed in early december
they tried to get duchene to agree to a contract and trade for him
just like vegas did with stone
they were trying to build their roster for next season at the deadline, see montour |

He does think about the bigger picture. We rag on him almost daily because of it. And signing a guy with 6 games of experience to a long term extension is just bad business, any way you look at it. |
