Well, past 3 years, he's got Laaksonen, UPL, Weissbach, Cronholm, Asplund and Davidsson to his resume. That's pretty good. - TheSabresTaco

So was the holdup a contract extension for Duchene? If he wouldn't sign then, he's certainly not signing in July, after seeing this sh!t show here. - Powerslave
botts was fishing, like when he tried to trade up with nucks at 2017 draft
duchene camp was not interested in an extension so it was a short phone call

Agreed. Bryson has that offensive upside but he's a bit smallish for my tastes.. - mhp

Agreed. Bryson has that offensive upside but he's a bit smallish for my tastes. Rochester is an ideal spot for him to develop.
Speaking of Borgen, I think him and OV make the roster next year. CJ might if they don't bring back Larsson and/or Girgensons. I have a feeling Nylander is trade bait and that's one of the reasons why they called him up. - mhp
I've sat and stared at the armchair GM capfriendly sabres page for about an hour the other day. Ideally, you want all your AHL guys to be called up and fill in for underachieving and expiring vets. But the reality is, we're not the Senators. We CAN'T suck next year, and backfilling a bunch of spots, while you can't make the team much worse, likely will not vastly improve the team. I want a bunch of those guys to fight for spots, and guys like CJ Smith will be on a one way contract next year. But a bunch others still have waiver priority, like VO, Nylander, Asplund and Thompson. Swapping out negative impact players like half the bottom 6 and half the defense with a few trades/FAs, competent NHL vets, is, in my eyes, the only way to elevate this team.
There's also this background, yet significant issue of particular guys that either can't or won't play the system and just bail out at the first sign of trouble. You simply can't have that. The best teams don't always have the best talent, but they don't crack. |

You are the one comparing Jack Eichel to Derek Roy and saying Pilut is no better then Nelson. - Pegullaville
No one is comparing Eichel to Roy as a player but Roy did put up 81 points when scoring was much lower than it is now and Pilut has not been impressive in any way.
I simply said Jack Eichel is not having an impressive season and used Roy as a benchmark. Why you cant understand this is really odd. |

they didn't
I never said they did, and said they were doomed in early december
they tried to get duchene to agree to a contract and trade for him
just like vegas did with stone
they were trying to build their roster for next season at the deadline, see montour - homiedclown
That makes complete sense. |

If Okposo was on the 1st line all year the Sabres would be in the playoffs - washedup20
Absolutely not
But it’s reasonable to think he’d top 20goals & 40points... maybe more?
And then maybe we’d be able to move him |
