Hes not exactly a spring chicken remember the Brandon powerhouses with him in charge . - Tigersmyle
I would prefer to see someone start at the Asst GM and learn everything there is . A smart sharp young Exec.
My opinion is the last two years have been trending up so keep Benning in charge for another year or two and groom your next GM starting at his assistant. The name I keep thinking is Judd Brackett or Johnson.
I think in the meanwhile have a pres to buffer Benning so he can focus on hockey for a year or two. Ihave someone in mind but you will hate it.
Brian Burke. He has been sucking up to Jim for months now and he does know the Canucks inside out. He was part of the Flames growing process , the Leafs , Ducks and helped construct the best Canuck talent pool to date.
Bring him in for two years to buffer. He knows the league as well as anyone. Just like the Leafs did bringing in Uncle Lou until Kyle was ready. |

I would fire Benning tomorrow and hire almost anyone who has previous NHL GM experience to finish off this rebuild before Benning f*cks it up this summer. Benning is awful. |

Disagree. He’s been pretty solid IMO. Few blunders, only 1 that massive blunder (LE) and I get why he did it. Tried to extend the twins career. Didn’t work. Still won’t kill is.
He moved on from a lot of old Canucks. Drafted well. Brought in some support.
Otherwise you’re the Oilers.
I wouldn’t trade the Canucks for the oilers even with McDavid. |

I really do understand people thinking this way.
I think if someone else walks in unfamiliar with what is going on I think it will delay things.
I think Loui will be taken care of after July 1 because they have seen enough. A new guy may want to see what he has.
Benning has said he doesn't think they are going big name hunting in the summer , a new guy may try to hit a home run.
I would prefer at this point to see them bring someone in to mentor Benning instead of starting over. The end game still is to replace JB but do it by growing someone from inside. |

Every GM makes a few blunders...is what it is.
Basically I'm thinking Benning has next year or the year after to get the team in the PO's. If they miss in the next few seasons regardless of Boeser-Pettersson-Hughes being outstanding acquisitions he'll be gone. Many may not like some of the things that he's done but you can bet you next ten years of paychecks that FA has personally told Benning to get this club as close as possible to playoffs for the 50th season. |

So, pointing out the obvious flaws on Brock, means I am in need of a whipping boy?
I have raised this topic several times this season, as I have some serious concerns about his poor decisions in the defensive zone.
I have also said, that he is a much needed player for this franchise and he drastically needs to improve his game in several aspects.
As I stated in a previous comment, Brock is not untouchable, when in comes to criticism on his obvious shortcomings. - Reubenkincade
It’s just an observation by you Reuby, and I share that observation. I was also criticized when I made the same sort of observation about Pettersson, many here do not like any criticism levelled at the goal scorers.
I also think that the free pass that is given to the goal scorers will fade quickly next year when they are the reason for blown games during the meaningful season.
I hope they both work on their defensive games in the offseason. |

I think next year the Canucks will end up around the bubble , and with a higher winning percentage. You still need EP BB to mature .
I believe they will be a better team again next year , just like Colorado and Carolina progressed but we are not a playoff contender.
From what I have been hearing Canucks are looking for a team president , not a GM . President usually come in and continue on the trend for a while before making significant changes . |

Like we have discussed before if they can move up 5 spots that's progress. 23rd looks to be about as high as we can finish this year but I will still look to that as a win as I said around 21st spot. Picking probably 9-10-11 which isn't to shabby considering the team is showing improvements.
I have us around 17-20 next year probably not playoffs but they should have a legit run at the WC much like ARZ did this year.
I'd be ok with spending some of that cap space on a bonafide player like Panarin. |

We have had the same predictions all year and seem to be projecting the same for next year.
I think moving some of this D will win a few more games.
It takes time to be a good team but we are going in the right direction. |

👍
Some people are a bit sensitive, when it comes to constructive criticism, of some of our players.

Lol. Can’t win a debate with someone who lies to support their pathetic narritive.
Playing the victim is popular right now. Booner has made it into an art form. |
