Holland

Like it or not, he’s the biggest name out there.

Holland, Lombardi, Krueger are all names that media and casual fans would get behind.

Soderstrom has suddenly become overrated.

Not even sure where the recent Seider hype has come from... Thought I was his only fanboy

- DrChristianTroy

By professional scouts? I mean, you guys are great but Bob seems to be pretty on it so i think ill give him/pro scouts the edge.

I’m just saying, we have no idea how forward thinking he is and what kind of leader he is as outsiders, he could be the next Yzerman or just a younger Benning.

It’s hard to be totally for/against any first time NHL GM until they start making moves in the organization.

Fenton was a guy a lot of fanbases wanted from Nashville, so far he’s had a rocky start in Minny.

I agree and it shouldn't be a mystery . That is why I suggest promoting one ofthem to Asst GM . Let them grow and see if they could one day handle the GM job.

(frank) Bob. Where was he on Pettersson? All those “professional scouts” missed on him.

I'd rather have Dragon.
Holland is going to Edmonton to finish off the job Chiarelli did.

I'd say promote Johnson between the two. People here often forget that JB was an AGM in Boston for a long time before getting his shot as a GM here. Everyone talks about wanting some AGM to take over here, but seem to forget this one fact.
I say give JB one ore off season and see how it goes next season. If we don't improve then fire him. If we do extend him for a little longer, wait for the Core to develop and then swap him for a GM that will put it together. Once we have that core, I am sure we can get a few Vet GM's interested in the job.

Lombardi for sure. Krueger i just dont see, unless he’s just dying to get back into hockey. Got it pretty good.

As long as either one of those guys can get with the times and build for today’s game im fine with it. They have five cups between them as GM’s. I mean JB has already built the scaffolding of a very fast transition team. Just need to stay on course.

Do we sell high on Roussel this offseason? I love him, but he’s bot in the future and could be a piece of a package woth actual value.

The only real talk of replacing the GM is from the media and social media. The guys at SN have said they haven't heard rumblings to replace JB. The TSN crew can't get him out the door quick enough.

There has been speculation about someone coming in as a Pres to handle other things.

Ya one of them to assistant gm would be good imo too. Brackett assistant gm in charge of scouting. Basically JB’s old job in Boston. [img][/img]

100%

But maybe FA is aiming for a big name and not settling for someone unknown.

- Nucker101

Also very possible. Maybe he swings for the fences at the end of the season and leaves Bennings future up to the new Prez

By the time they re filled we can expect the Zamboni driver at MSG to be available to fill our vacant GM job

Rangers job is definitely at the top just because of NYC.

Seattle would be fun because of the blank slate and it’s a nice city too.

Edmonton vs Vancouver is interesting. McJesus + Drai + living in Edmonton vs Pettersson + Boeser + Hughes + living in Vancouver

Yes i will follow the concensus of professional scouts that make up Bobs list. We can’t all be message board doctors, so ill leave the professional opinions to you and Dr. Agon
Button is an idiot and has one of the worst draft records in NHL history for a GM. Relying on him as a draft expert is like hiring Tim Hunter as the new puck skills coach.

They have improved from last season without the Sedins. A good off season could improve on that. Also a bad off season could destroy it. I think JB has been doing better with his trades recently and has a better idea of what type of players we need. I will consider this off season a success if we trade for a top 4 RHD, sign one of the lower top 6 guys like Dzingle or Ferland(not as high on him), and walk away/trade some replaceable players.

Sutter still has some value and could likely be moved, Gaudette and Beagle make him fully replaceable.
LE after July 1st will have some value to budget teams that need cap floor, but owners won't spend real dollars to reach it. We may not need to pay much to dump him, and I could see him waiving for a team that will keep him in the NHL, rather than risking going on waivers next year.
Either walk away from Goldobin, or live with his defensive flaws/floating. I say walk away.
Next year I wouldn't mind seeing our forwards being

Dzingle - EP - boeser
Pearson - Bo - JV
Granlund - Gaudette - Leivo
Motte - Beagle - they can fight for it

Pearson has looked good with Bo and so has JV when he plays with him. Granlund is cheap and can put up 10-15 goals from the 3rd line, same with Leivo. I think Gaudette would break 10 goals next year as well.

Motte has been excellent on the 4th line and Beagle brings a solid defensive game.

Bob’s lists are safe, you’ll never sound stupid pre-draft by choosing to let Bob’s list be your main guide.

But it’s no different then the guy who chooses the higher point total team to win every playoff series.

Basically following the crowd.

Plus with Bob’s lists, we have no idea about the quality of scouts he’s buddies with. Imagine if it’s a few Canuck scouts

You have basically made one adjustment to the current group of forwards . The only player that was not brought in by JB was Bo. Not meaning to be devils advocate but if you would be happy with that group then why is is a make or break summer then?

Also you left off Roussel
