Surprised no one is talking about theANA V LA game. Ramifications are pretty large for us. ANA win and a Van loss and we move into the 8 slot 🎉. Edit: guarantees us a top 10 pick |

I really do understand people thinking this way.
I think if someone else walks in unfamiliar with what is going on I think it will delay things.
I think Loui will be taken care of after July 1 because they have seen enough. A new guy may want to see what he has.
Benning has said he doesn't think they are going big name hunting in the summer , a new guy may try to hit a home run.
I would prefer at this point to see them bring someone in to mentor Benning instead of starting over. The end game still is to replace JB but do it by growing someone from inside. - VANTEL
Firing him with no plan. Brilliant.

New blog is up, with the good and the bad from Nashville and a Blues preview that looks a little closer at how they've accomplished their turnaround and Jordan Binnington's Calder Trophy chances. Plus, a quick World Championship rundown:

Like we have discussed before if they can move up 5 spots that's progress. 23rd looks to be about as high as we can finish this year but I will still look to that as a win as I said around 21st spot. Picking probably 9-10-11 which isn't to shabby considering the team is showing improvements.
I have us around 17-20 next year probably not playoffs but they should have a legit run at the WC much like ARZ did this year.
I'd be ok with spending some of that cap space on a bonafide player like Panarin. - LordHumungous
Panarin would be a good piece.
We also have 2 nice goalies that have come on this year.
Granlund has been emerging lately as well.
Hughes adds a lot to our PP and our OT looks good. I'm hoping oj can bring it this coming season.
Things are looking good for the coming seasons |

Some people are a bit sensitive, when it comes to constructive criticism, of some of our players. - Reubenkincade
When you start calling the young players like Boeser Golden Boys etc when you are complaining about them not getting enough criticism... its sounds like whining or griping. Sounds more like you need a whipping boy that anything.
Like I said... to me its the language you are using.

You have basically made one adjustment to the current group of forwards . The only player that was not brought in by JB was Bo. Not meaning to be devils advocate but if you would be happy with that group then why is is a make or break summer then?
Also you left off Roussel - VANTEL
Leivo and Pearson have had success here, but not full seasons. They are similar to new players brought in for us. Leivo does have a larger sample size, but a lot of that was trying to find his fit on the team. Dzingle is a fairly big add to me as he can score between 25-30 goals for us, but won't break the bank due to competing with guys like Panarin, Duchene, etc.
Roussel I left off as who knows how he will be after his knee issue, and he is likely to miss the first couple months. 6-9 months out puts him to a return of september-december. Inking him for the season opener is pure stupidity as that is a best case scenerio. He likely pushed Granlund to 4th line RW and takes 3rd line LW when he is back, but he may be slow to get going after his knee getting (frank)ed.
Anyways, that roster looks improved from our starting roster last year. So yes I am happy with it. Our defense is the biggest issue to improve. Getting an offensive minded Defender will also help to improve our forwards point totals, Hughes can't do it all alone and Edler needs to get off PP1 and preferably off PP2. |

Lol. Can’t win a debate with someone who lies to support their pathetic narritive.
Playing the victim is popular right now. Booner has made it into an art form. - bloatedmosquito
Shut up. You busted yourself in your denial. You are not spewing a child sexual abuse narrative but there you are referring to it in the message YOU cut and pasted. The message YOU sent to me.
Who sends this poop to people??? YOU
Classless. How you pass so much judgement on me over the years is the biggest laugh I've ever seen on HB. I'll kick you off your soap box every single time now you phony low life. |

I have. There are 2 or 3 players with elite players on a team of fringe 3rd liners and a defense made of college players. They won't make the playoffs until Benning is fired and this team is managed properly. - Marwood
Right now they are 5 wins out of the 90 point mark for the 8th place team in the west. With so many games being close this season... a healthier team should be right there or further... so JB needs to address that but you are stretching this narrative pretty damn thin.
So much hyperbole and exaggerations.

I'm terrified about what they are going to do to 'try' to be a playoff team next season. The other thing that scares the sh*t out of me is Benning looking for a defensemen in the 21-25 age brackett to grow with the team. That will cost. A lot. They can't help but rush the process. - Marwood
So much judgement on things that havent happened. Weird. Write a scenario... then judge.

You flipped wayyyyy after Loui. That was near the start of his tenure - CanuckDon
A bad contract but hardly evidence for (frank)ing up the Canucks future. He was a UFA.
I understand the frustration and anger over Guddy. He was a costly accusation.

I am more scared about starting over again than I am of Benning doing something stupid. I agree this has been his two best years. I also don't mind someone with more experience coming in to work with this group.
Excellent GMs are not unemployed and would not probably want to walk into this group right now. Chances are you would be getting a refurbished exec. - VANTEL
Punishment firings are stupid. There has to be logic and a plan/replacement that isnt just for the sake of rage replacements.

The only real talk of replacing the GM is from the media and social media. The guys at SN have said they haven't heard rumblings to replace JB. The TSN crew can't get him out the door quick enough.
There has been speculation about someone coming in as a Pres to handle other things.
Aquilini all year has been publically praising Canucks on Twitter - VANTEL
Canucks have progressed. They need healthier players and the progressing players wont be held back.
This is a funny place. The tankers want punishment firings for missing the playoffs.

Why will the pacific be better? La and anahiem wont. Sj arguably wont, as it doesnt seem like they can realistically afford karlsson. Vegas will be good. Arizona maybe i guess?! Edmonton if they land some big deals and change the d over, but man they seem like a mess. All im really predicting is that we finish higher next year, were not that far off the bubble now. I didnt say playoffs, ive always said bubble team. - neem55
Why do you think the Canucks will be better but none of these other teams will? SJ doesn’t need to be better than they are now, they’re already better. If Anaheim wins and the Canucks loose, guess what... coyotes had more injuries to more key players and still finished higher. Expecting this team to jump 15 points next year is ludicrous. |
