Was searching around the interweb yesterday, came acrosst a site of other hockey data.
Two things I found interesting there as it relates to the Sabres:
- Housley is rated 5th since 1969 in terms of having the worst roster to work with on a per game basis during his HC tenure. This was derived by aggregating the players draft position on the roster by HC for all teams dating back to that time. He might move up (more worse) had they been able to accurately peg the Hockey IQ of players on the rosters...I think much of the roster is comprised of Low Hockey-IQ players.
-Skinner was ranked I think 6th for this season in terms of scoring important goals....no, obviously not those scored in March, lol. They determined this by assigning point values for among other things game-tying and game-winning goals. He slipped a bit to like 12th when I filtered over the last 5 seasons.
To me, it points to the importance of re-signing Skinner. Although I do remain skeptical about the term (6 years max for me) and contract value (no more than $8 per).
It is also interesting that the roster composition is historically bad. Phil has made more than his share of head-scratching moves and decisions both in-game, and with the line-ups/line combinations. But, there is far, far more to be considered, and saddling him with poopty players has been of epic proportions the last 2 years.
I'm good if they decide to move on from him...but Botts is complicit in this disastrous season. |

dahlin should win rookie of the year the things he did as a 18 year old is unheard of and I believe he’s the 2nd youngest in nhl history with 40 + points - gerbe75pts
pettersson will win it, but dahlin played better the second half of the season |

I think back to the end of last year when Botts made the statement “this isn’t going to happen again.”
Well...it did, right? Something’s gotta give. I’m guessing today is locker clean out/exit interviews. Seems like potential Housley news would come tomorrow. He has come off defiantly positive, despite their horrific season. I feel like he sees his fate coming.

That’s a violation. Total loser fraidy cat Botts style move. Might want to make sure you spell it right this time. I’ll refer to you by nothing other than Flaccoville. - Hatboro_Swords
A) Made the user name when the Pegula’s bought the team and I clearly overestimated their ownership skills.
B) Since I made the username we haven’t made the playoffs so although I’m not superstitious I am a little stitious.
C) I find it highly amusing being talked down to by Bills fans being that the Broncos historically are one of the most successful NFL franchises since Bowlen bought the team. You calling me Flaccoville doesn’t really bother me |

I dont disagree with signing Skinner at all. I would love if we can get him for 5-6 years. I might even give him 9 for 6, instead of 8x8.
I know he went on a slump, however as we saw last year with losing ROR it is hard to replace 40 goals. Got to resign him.

Eichel and Kakko combo could be deadly. I don’t want to get my hopes up though.

Unpopular opinion:
I am okay if RJ passes the torch after this season. He's becoming a shell of his former self in the booth. I think it's time. Watching Bob Cole's last broadcast (just incredible BTW) after the Sabres game last night helped me come to terms with it. |

I thought his point totals don't count because he plays on the pp though?

TOP 2019 C'S
1 Jack Hughes - USA U18
2 Kirby Dach - SASKATOON
3 Dylan Cozens - LETHBRIDGE
4 Alex Turcotte - USA U18
5 Trevor Zegras - USA U18
Looks like Dylan Cozens or Kirby Dach
for us this yr unless we win the Lottery,
Both players are TwoWay Centerman with Large frames and smooth skating.
If we go off the board, I would grab Alex Turcotte He is the Mitch Marner of this Draft |

I loved the trade back in the day but yeah, the Whole Cody and his Dad thing scared me away from caring about Brendan Lemuix |

I viewed your handle as sort of sarcastic, like Gerbe75points or something.
