This is a valid question, at least Lu had good value every year he played here. I think loui is worse for that reason, he’s just been poope since day one - neem55
Not really. One guy was an integral part of taking his team to the SCF, the other guy has been a healthy scratch on a bottom feeder.
Anyone who think these are even comparable needs to take the blinders off and think rationally. |

I’d like experience, so same order as you numbered it. - neem55
I think 2 and 3 have more experience than 1? |

So one of the local radio guys says the Canucks are eyeing 3 guys for team president
1. Lombardi
2. Holland
3. Francis
How does everyone rank them?
For me it’s Francis, Lombardi, Holland - Nucker101
Same order |

Bob Coles last game. Will endure having to watch the leafs and habs to have one last listen. Guy is a legend. - Codes1087
A Toronto legend, bob (old) Cole should have quit decades ago. |

Who were the 3 or 4 “elite” forwards last year?!? (By my count there were 0) - DrChristianTroy
I should have said tier 1 not elite. Schechnikov Tkachuk Zadina and at the time i thought Wahlstrom which turned out wrong |

Welcome to another offseason—where we're apparently waiting for word on whether Chris Tanev will be able to come back from his injury in time to play at the World Championship. The more things change, the more they stay the same...
New blog is up with more Worlds updates, plus notes from the finale in St. Louis and a few season-ending stats:

I was just taking contract impact that’s all. Not comparing players performance just the quality of the agreement. Both, tome, are equally flawed in how they were constructed.
Both GMs had their reasons to sign them. I’m sure both could come up with valid reasons why. |

If the NHL already had the recapture penalty in place then this could be an interesting discussion, otherwise it’s still a no-brainer to me.
Like if the NHL made a rule this summer that players who signed 6+ year terms now automatically get full NMC’s, I couldn’t blame Benning for somehow expecting that rule to be made. |

Yeah, I agree. He should have retired during the lockout in 2004/5 (forget the exact year). The whole he's a legend bs is being tarnished by his crappy performance in the booth. It would be like signing the twins to 10 year extensions because they're the best Canucks of all time. |

So you think Gillis would not have signed that Lu extension if the recapture was in place.
Ok. Fare enough. I still hate the Lu contract. I hated it when it was signed.

Yes, it would’ve been similar, but likely a couple of years shorter and a higher cap hit.
There’s plenty of Gillis moves to female dog about, but for me that one I’m fine with considering that it was the NHL lawyers and CBA experts who got outsmarted by NHL GM’s and player agents, then got butt sore about it. |

Absolutely. Saw the Peppers and Michael Balzary (Flea) live a few times he killed it.
Geezer Butler and John Deacon deserve mention as well. - LordHumungous
Good call. Often overlooked. |
