I think Vantel singles out JV because he’s one of the few tradeable players we have Based on potential and not actual skill set. - bloatedmosquito
If JB can convince Boston that JV is the second coming of Cam Neely, then maybe we can exact some revenge for that horrible trade. |

Knowing Canuck luck it will be Neely 2.0 |

Several people have asked me if I’m happy with the way the @Canucks season has gone. The answer is both yes and no. I’m working on a letter about that which will go out to our Season Ticket Members on Sunday. I’ll post it here as well. - VANTEL
He’s just gonna talk about how happy he is with the future core but that he’s unhappy about missing the playoffs |

3 wins in a row just before the draft lottery, typical - A_SteamingLombardi
That’s what I’ve been laughing about.
Others feel it’s good momentum for next season.
I think those people are off their rocker. |

His biggest issue is consistency.
Patience could pay dividends or decide it’s not happenning & he’s moved. That is a very difficult decision to make. - Nighthawk
I say no to moving him. This could end up Neely trade 2.0. Not saying he's cam Neely just the trade comparison.
Now would not be the time to trade him anyway.
We would also Immediately miss his speed |

I think Jake is the type of guy you want on your 3rd line in the Playoffs, and think within 2 seasons we can get there. - Retinalz
I'd like to see him with horvat. They had chemistry before. Its been awhile, a few years. Time to try it again |

I don't think he has the hockey sense. I'm not talking Brett Hedican bad but something along those lines. Great speed entering the zone but no clue what to do with it. Hansen is a good comparison or maybe Grabner as they can single handedly force a turnover and create their own scoring chance. Rarely do they make a play for a linemate. |

We will see. He will improve and develop that power forward side. The way he competes is a good sign |

Even without the points I would like to seem him get back to steamrolling guys like he did with the Hitmen. Don't know whether that will ever translate to the Bigs?

Lol, that’s a pretty myopic view.
Yes, some less skilled players hustle to make an impact. Some highly skilled players don’t hustle, and leave people pulling out their hair. Kovalev, Ovi early in his career, hell Bertuzzi was a big floater that people got annoyed with. The scoring doesn’t necessary make up for their lack of hustle: to pucks, on D, on the forecheck.. they don’t win championships.
Vey wasn’t really skilled enough to have his hustle impact that much. Hansen had more to his game, and his hustle multiplied the skill he had. - NewYorkNuck
There needs to be a mix of talent, quite a few dump on JV only because of his draft position, and Boeser was drafted much later and gets a pass on his poor defensive play because he puts up 60pts.
If trading Virtanen can realize a positive such as a second round pick, then yes, if it is for a fourth, I would keep him. I think he gets better every year and regardless of Dons coke head friends and Virtanen’s sexual exploits he is an asset that you get full value or keep. |

Sounds about right. His trade value could also be obscured a bit if part of a package for a higher draft pick. |

Well said. Trades & UFA’s imo are for longterm improvement. Building a core does not mean one way & only one way can it be done. D out has been my style for a long long time. Nothing against F’s as long as they are legit top 6 play drivers. Panarin
We have 5-6 players i can live without but not just given away. |

And since he hasn't reached full potential yet you can't get full value for him. Thus you keep him or risk Neely 2.0 |
