But so much fun to watch as a fan. I used to watch the games twice back then. So enjoyable. - bloatedmosquito
Gillis added some great depth characters back then. Funny, Tampa is so good but not really annoying, strange. Maybe I just don’t watch them enough. |

IF we trade Jake, it should only be for a NHL ready dman. What kind of idiot would trade him for a second? A second is more likely to bust than be as useful as Jake is, and unlikely to ever be an upgrade. |

We knock on Gillis for handcuffing the team with 9-10 NTC contracts which did suck...but having said that without his shrewd additions we don't even get a sniff of the cup finals in 2011.
Torres, Malholtra, Lappy, Hamhuis, Samuelsson, Higgins, Erhoff, Higgins and few others were all Gillis. |

I think Canuck players agitated because it was actually part of the plan. The Canucks power play was so lethal back then that they could win games just on PP goals alone. |

A great time to be a fan back then, the organization was at its peak from the players on up to the president, Aquilini was still a doughhead though lol. |

Absolutely! They were all key additions that year.
Gillis's true talent was being able to see what was missing and select the correct player to fix it.
Too bad he sucked at drafting. Although he was ahead of all of us on horvat.....and markstrom |

Gillis also did some terrible trades thinking he knew what this team needed. Just think of Booth and Ballard.

I was watching that Tim and Sid show and they were going on and on about how great a guy Green is and how much he’s liked around NHL hockey circles.
Don’t get how that makes him a good coach. |

If people could break free from the local group think, they'd realize that across the league, Green is getting credit for the step forward regardless of the poopty hand he was dealt with the injuries and depth holes.

I think it is a bit early to pass judgement for me . He has a bad team to start. I keep hearing the guys love playing for him.
I always ask the same question who is better out there? AV had his shot and is making 5 mil to stay at home. Quinville is making 6 mil to stay home.
Not many good coaches want to coach in Vancouver just because of location but pile on that it is a young team makes the list even shorter.

I don't know why people keep mentioning the highlighted part?
There is only one player on this team that I would move for nothing or even pay someone to take him. That would be number 21.
It really drives me nuts hearing don't move him for the sake of moving him
. Like Vintsy when he hears the words Hockey Trades.
Of course moving Jake , the only reason would be to improve the team. I care that he has value and other teams would be willing to take him on just like last years Galchenyuk and Domi. - VANTEL
Well I certainly haven’t mentioned the highlighted part, I rarely engage in hockey trade talk.
I can see all the mentions of trading this guy , we can’t bring back the same team, need to move one of, this, that or the other.
Say it enough with no mention of return, it certainly sounds like move this, that, or the other, for whatever. |
