The blackhawks defense and PK have not been good since Stan fired Kitchen. Wonder when Q gets his next coaching job will Kitchen be one of his coaches.

More than likely. They are very good friends on and off the ice.

Definition of +/- from nhl.com appears to say empty net goals count

My primary source is the literal interpretation of the rule as explained on NHL.com website.

Moreover, I was looking at Gus +/- over the last few games, and even towards the end of the game yesterday. He was even until the last 2 empty netters went in. Ended -2

I saw he was on the ice for the first empty netter, assume he also was on the second.

Again, not using the stat to draw any conclusions or discount Gus defensive issues, just pointing out, like most issues thrown about, conclusions are overblown.

Rumors that Q isn't just being pursued as the next Panthers head coach but that he is close to signing.

@brettcrygalis

Just heard that Joel Quenneville is a done deal in Florida, announcement coming tomorrow. Also a chance that Garth Snow makes his way down there in some capacity. Fluid situation. #Isles  #FlaPanthers

SOOO - do any of our vets waive to follow?

Housley fired in Buffalo, that’s 2 coaches let go today.

Speaking of Florida.... Talon + Quenneville = Seabrook?

I want to scream “nooooooo!!!” but you may be onto something, especially if Panarin decides to go to FL.

Now, Kane just closed on a $6.5M place here in Chicago, but you never know.

@wyshinski
The @FlaPanthers have received permission to talk to coach Joel Quenneville and have offered him a multi-year deal worth more than $6 million annually after bonuses. Details here: espn.com/nhl/story/_/id… #NHL

It was in Crain’s Business paper the other day. Same building as Toews and some of the Cubs are in.

Seems to have been confirmed by another RE column day later.

Not sure what the reality would be, but as others have already, I do wonder if any Hawks would waive their NTC/NMCs to reunite with Q. Imagine the possibilities, though. And the outrages.

All depends on how much animosity certain hawk players have towards bowman and company.

I personally don't think he's resigned.

Koekkoek turns 26 during next season. Does he net a draft pick from someone in a trade, or is there not even enough interest for that? That one ridiculous pass he made this season, that resulted in a goal given up, I would expect that from somebody quite a bit younger, but he's old enough to know better. Otherwise, I never really developed an opinion of him either way. Figured he might get a cheap one or two year deal, nothing more.

All good things come to an end eventually. I can see Kane agreeing to a move if it involves a likely winning situation. The Panthers need a goaltender and a player like Kane to sell tickets and he would benefit from the tax break. And with Q there you just know they will get some horses to help that roster. Barkov is a great player to build around.

Not getting Barkov but Huberdeau maybe. And I am sure they would give up their 1st in the package. (as long as the Hawks don't take back those 2 stiffs Keith Yandle and James Reimer.)

All good points. To be fair, though, Koekkoek hasn’t had a full season in the NHL despite his age. He hasn’t had a chance to mature by being in and out of the lineup in Tampa and Chicago.

I can see Krueger being signed by Florida. Probably Tallon is all in on Panarin & Bobrovsky

Huberdeau and a mid round 1st seems underwhelming
