How does Stan fix a penalty kills that was so bad? 1 or 2 new guys might not be enough. - DarthKane

How much of it is a systems problem, and how much of it is a personnel problem?
I think one of the great achievements under Colliton was fixing the power play. I can only hope that is more a systems solution for the penalty kill, also. |

Bowman said he will be more active in Free Agency. Gotta believe another season without Playoffs and StanBo will be shown the door. - EnzoD
Great... more overpayments, bloated contracts and NMCs. |

The Hawks had the 6th fewest penalty minutes per game this season.
Edit: the 3rd fewest minor penalties. |

The Hawks are an average defense away from being contenders.... With the right UFA moves this summer I have the Hawks contending next season..
The Hawks are very close. They're closer than any team that missed the playoffs.
That Schmaltz for Strome & Perlini trade flipped a switch on this team, now presently the only issue this team has is keeping pucks out of the net. They've proven they can score and score a lot they do, however they've proven they cant keep the puck out of the net..
Had that trade been made earlier in the season and had Crawford been healthy the Hawks would be in the playoffs ... Of course none of that changes the fact the Hawks defense is horrendous, but hey who cares if you outscore your opponent?
The reality is that those that cant see the talent on this team are the ones who know nothing about hockey.. - Savard2Secord
I see the talent but I also see the huge holes in the lineup. As good as Strome, ADB, Toews and Kane are and a couple of support players like Saad, Cagulia are the Hawks are so weak on the backend with no one ready to assume first pairing duties. If youre proposing the Hawks trade for a top defenseman then they have to give something up to get him.
The Hawks are not in a position to be a contender for a while, i expect they'll be a playoff team next
Season but they're a long way off from being cup contenders. |

They might be able to MAKE the playoffs, but without a stong defensive commitment they won't be able to WIN the cup in the playoffs.

Yessir! Jokiharju will be a big improvement in the Top 4. Strome could also improve from his nearly PPG scoring pace with the Hawks. Improvement on the PK also is nearly 1 less goal alllowed per game. they will be a wild card team next year with the right moves. - EnzoD
LOL one bad game and you'll be back to your whining for the hawks to trade Joki and Strome just as you did this season about Toews, Saad, Keith, ADB, Gus and anyone else who had a bad game, shift or missed a shot. |

More than likely. They are very good friends on and off the ice. - BGKarras
Hey BigAaaasss
No changes needed. Thanks for the (Chi) town team being easy fodder for the Division Clinch. Enjoy sitting back and watching the playoffs again. |

If the team is entertaining and they aren't of a playoff contention until nesr the end of season, then you have to admit something positive is happening. That would be Colliton coaching and some new players (including rookies) impact the roster.
This is what we have to hope for. I believe most who peruse this board know thst a good farm system is the basis teams build from. But Bowman cannot afford any major trade or draft choices going sour on him.
I really believe that drafting and signing have been good. Now Bowman needs to augment support and or add key pieces to the roster whom are a fit to help relieve our shortcomings. Really the next phase starts when we hear where we draft anf the corresponding moves leading up to opening night next season
You can choose to say Yes we can. Or yes Bowman can. Because Bowman will call the shots taken - jhawk59
Add joki and vet d man from free agency or through a trade a 3 rd line 200ft shutdown center and another one or two physical defensive forward that play a gritty game and can help on the pk hawks are back in the mix. Plus need to find out about crow and is delia ready to a full time backup. I go back to a trade mention on previous blog about acquiring miller or mcnabb and eakin from vegas would great add tanev or someone like that and hawks are back.

This whole Talon-Q love fest, I thought Scotty was the one who insisted Savard be fired. I doubt Talon would have fired him is Scotty wasn't around. |

Trading Kane would be an admission that they do not expect to be in Cup contention for several (more than two or three) years.
For that reason alone, Kane won’t be moved. - StLBravesFan
Kane won't be moved because he is still one of the best players in the game. Its really that simple. |

There is ZERO evidence that the coaching change was anyone other than Dale's decision.
This is so typical on this forum, people wishing something to be true state:
"Well I thought it was Bob Dylan who wanted to get rid of such and such player". Bullpoop meme now becomes fact.
Just like the good/bad moves Bowman makes. "It was Q who wanted Kunitz", with ZERO evidence of such. Just making up the song as we write it. |

I thought there was documentation that at a practice Scotty was pissed at what Savard was doing.
Here is a link that states it was McD's idea with input from Scotty - so I am not making this up.
