I hope Benning gets creative bring in some top 6 talent.
Pacioretty, Kadri, Wennberg, Johnson, Miller and Granlund are guys I would be kicking tires on to see they could be had for a bargain. - belcherbd

Yes to Granlund(but trade his bro as part of the deal lol) and Miller(both JT and Colin)
Patches too old, I don't see Dubas selling Kadri for a bargain, Johnson/Wennberg meh |

Ya, it seems to work for good teams. Like every team in the playoffs for example. - neem55
It’s not a bad idea other than we lack balance in a big way. |

If Doughty, universally recognized as one of the leagues best all round players is 2nd at -34 it should emphasize both how useless a stat +/- is and how significant being on a bad team is.
Risto isn't a good defender but hes not nearly as bad as some make out and is excellent offensively, in particular on the PP. - belcherbd
+/- speaks of personal & team play. As in any stat it’s interpretation. Crap goalies can skew +/-. The legit good players drive a team like EK did in Ottawa or they can get mired on horrible teams. The eye test need be added for a better judgement. |

I think you’re setting the bar high there, by those standards not very many centers drive play either.
To me a forward skilled enough to create space for himself and his line mates with his skill/speed/IQ fits that mold.
Doesn’t have to be a PPG+ player. Top teams have line drivers on their 2nd or sometimes even 3rd line if they’re spreading the wealth, but those guys aren’t always PPG players. - Nucker101
Yes i set a high bar but that’s what i see as who is elite or not. Chemistry can be everything. Hard work & IQ goes a long ways. Skill needs excel to make others better. Snipers need a set up man...Hull & Oates, OV. Those with more game Sid for example carry teams. Puck possession & retrieval is the most important aspect.

I agree to an extent, but I probably don’t value him as highly as Buffalo does. To me he’s a #4 PP specialist. Needs a steady partner to carry him at 5v5 when he starts running around.
I can’t imagine Torts coaching him - Nucker101
This is true but offense is hard to find & a steady stay at home D can be drafted & developed. D pairings need both. |

Impossible. Truth be told I can barely read anymore. I have several books on wine I purchased on Amazon a few months back and they are just sitting on my rich mahogany table collecting dust. My pursuit of being a sommelier lasted two pages. - CanuckDon
The real Somms are the ones with worldly experience. Books are for Betas. Go to France, drink some wine with food. Visit a vineyard. You’re good to go. |

Kirby Dach playing on Sportsnet if anyone’s interested. Has the game’s lone goal & it was a nice one. |

He is 17. Who the (frank) knows. Kid is knocked for his inconsistent effort so he is definitely a boom or bust prospect |

I see all as upgrades on the wing for either Petey or Bo and while I doubt all are available, I could see a few on the move. |

Because of the hit on Danny or because he is a leaf?
He's young, skilled and willing to fight his own battles. I think he would complement Petey very well. |

Seems bizarre to pay the price to acquire a center just to use him as a wing, sure the flexibility is nice but if the main target is a LW for winger than I don’t think acquiring a natural Center through trade makes much sense.
Centers have inflated market value compared to wingers. |

For me its more about getting actual established top 6 NHLers to support Bo and Petey. Many teams have an abundance of C's. While you are right the cost would be more, good players are worth it.
