The above has way more to do with Chiarelli trading away Eberle (for nothing essentially), Taylor Hall (for Adam freaking Larsson), signing Lucic to a horrible contract, the list goes on... - jt1626
So he’s basically going into the same situation he was with the oilers

you have any insight on what the players think of the GM? Hamilton or Harrington said he was noticieably heated outside the arena after the Isles game. If he came in and acted like that I'd be like F U. Thanks for the help you provided us down the stretch. - Hatboro_Swords
Or, they can look themselves in the mirror and wonder why they played like heartless, gutless slugs for 3 months.
The GM doesn't lace them up. |

Yea money, he thinks he may have Botterill pinned in a corner due to Skinner's season, Sabres season and waiving to come here. Sounds pretty stupid if you ask me but he's an agent so that's his job. - SABRES 89
You'd think he'd push as far as he can but ultimately listen to his client |

Skinner holds the cards. He can replace his agent pretty quickly if he doesn't agree with the approach. |

He was looking for help at and before the dead line but didn't want to give a ton for a player like Duchene when he can try for him in the off season. He seen the way the team was going and didn't want to part a lot for a " rental". Not many complaints regarding Botterill a few with Housley but the players are disappointed all around. |

Yup...so if he leaves, I would think it's all on Skinner...whether he wants to leave Buffalo or wants more $$$ |

The Oilers are closer then most think, the media is what's killing them. - SABRES 89
Could replace Sabres with Oilers and the statement is still correct. Things are not as bad as they seem. |

Please let it be a Babcock and Not come here - gerbe75pts
McClellan is a Babcock Desciple. He has had success with younger players. AV might have the brighter resume but got ran out of New York becuase of playing vets over kids. My #1 choice would be Boudreau but it appears he’s staying in Minny. I wouldn’t mind McClellan one bit. |

Also a team with cap space and the resources to attract players. Edmonton was brutal and cap strapped with no prospect pool. |

You advocate for Ruff.
You advocate for Babcock (stacked Detroit team, possibility of getting fired from a stacked Toronto team)
But want nothing to do with McLellan. |

Maybe, maybe not. I'm of the belief that Botts will continue to add talent this off-season, whereas Chiarelli was all about shifting out talent. Like any coach, you're only as good as the talent that you're given/taken away. |

yup...both teams had (have) a lot of holes...however, they traded away hall for a defenseman because they were super weak there...sabres have their No. center and No. 1 d-man for years to come...really like that situation |

I'm thankful Botts admitted that he was at fault for the roster.
It's his turn to prove it, otherwise he should pack up his own desk. |

I said earlier that I thought this team needed someone to just steady the ship right now. Before we can talk about deep cup runs, playoff matchups, etc. They just needed someone who had a tried and true method of doing things. A professional coach. They got one.
If you think about it, the only real difference between Chicago Joel Q and San Jose Todd Mc is
Kane, Toews, Keith, Sharp and Seabrook vs. Thorton, Couture, Marleau and Burns.
Im ok with a PROFESSIONAL coach with experience walking in right now.
