He had 48 points in 45 games or an 86 point pace.

So you might never be wrong, but ya ain’t right in this case

McClellan is a Babcock Desciple. He has had success with younger players. AV might have the brighter resume but got ran out of New York becuase of playing vets over kids. My #1 choice would be Boudreau but it appears he’s staying in Minny. I wouldn’t mind McClellan one bit.

He lives and dies with his devotion to veteran players. Young players only get by if theyre already great players; his hiring won't help anyone's development.

Not to mention all the parallels between the teams. If he couldn't make one work what makes anyone think he could make the other?

You guys at least have yet to cripple your wing depth. Having your elite talent spread between F and D might help.

Warning: he always says all the right things but struggles to stick by the things he says. He's rigid. He certainly knows his hockey and he's not a bad coach, but he's not adaptable. Accountability doesn't apply uniformly (see: Lucic, Milan).

I think you have to have wing depth first.

I just think it's easy to coach really good teams. Just give them a system and point the way.

Some of you guys are killing me..... Seems to me I remember much of the same things being said about Marv levy when the Bills hired him.... He was a nothing when he coached Kansas City and many were just bellyaching all over the place about him being hired.... And all of a sudden 4 straight super bowl appearances.. No wins but still he built a team that accomplished what no other team has ever done. You know... You can just never tell how a person will do in any situation he is placed in.... Everyone may be right but nobody really knows....

Tbh that sounds more like Vigneault. McLellan's record is more like Andy Reid. Always there, never going anywhere

Those great Bills squads won despite Marv being coach.

The Sabres need a coach that the players respect and will play hard for. Is McLellan that guy?

Wrong.... Marv was a master at putting the right coaching staffs together and delegated like a genius.....

Who knows... The Sabres played very hard for Ted Nolan in his 1st term as coach but when he came back? Not so much...

I disagree. They were a train wreck mentally at first, remember "The Bickering Bills"? I think it was Marv Levy and Polian but mostly Levy that kept them from completely becoming a mental dumpster fire.

Well at least McLellan is more animated and may be able to light a fire. He did a solid job in San Jose with a talented team, now its time for Botterill to supply him with that and I think he can. But I have been wrong in the past.
