Yeah, you're right. Winning the Draft lottery is guaranteed Cup contention very shortly thereafter. If Flyers management was competent, they'd have brought along to Toronto a rabbit's foot, a horseshoe and an Atlanta Flames ski cap that Cliff Fletcher gifted to his son when he was a child.

After a 7th consecutive miserable season came to an end, we've seen Quenneville take a job in that hockey hotbed Sunrise Florida. And last night two rivals within the Division move up in the draft to sew up legit studs.
Everything is coming up Flyers! Next stop hire a coach everyone hates, and have an awful July 1 and away we go. Wash.Rinse.Repeat. |

Well when you work for the organization this is what you get sometimes. I get it’s his livelihood. Flyers have irrelevant for a long time now |

I know you're pessimistic, extremely, but all is not lost. There's some great pieces Hextall put in place. David Scott has mandated Fletcher is to be competitive, some of them will be used to make things better, hopefully.
Need a Trouba defenseman, a second line center and a scoring winger. They've got the money and prospects to make that happen, here's to hoping. |

the funny ting is even though there's a consensus top two, we had the same thing when we were lucky enough to get Patrick....now, some 2 years Later Elias Pettersson appears to be the stud of the draft.....my point is you never really know. Heck, our best player was drafted 20 something. Hopefully we get another decent kid to build around at 11... |

Did someone hack Bill's account? Haha. In all seriousness though Bill, 4 out of the top 5 goal scorers and point getters are former 1st overall picks. And 6 of the last 8 Stanley Cup winners have 1st overall picks. There is a trend, and last night was worst case scenario for the flyers. |

They moved down one spot, come on, Jesus, it's ONE (frank)in spot. Worst case is they moved back two spots. Everyone is making it sound like the Flyers are the big loser of the draft?
Vancouver moved down one spot, Edmonton moved down one spot, Anaheim moved down one spot, LA moved down three spots, Colorado moved back three spots, Detroit moved back two spots, Buffalo moved back two spots, etc. etc.
How are the Flyers the big losers of the draft? Drama central around here!! |

10 would be better then 11.....but it might not have any effect at all on who the Flyers take....I seem to remember guys like Forsberg, Sanheim, Morin and even Giroux....(just drafts I remember) where the Flyers went up to the mic and said a totally different name then everyone was talking about.

It's worse case scenario because New Jersey and New York got pick 1 & 2. These are Metro division teams... We already have Crosby, Ovechkin, Hischier, and Hall to contend with. I would have been happy to take the 13th pick if it meant both teams were drafting outside the top 5.
As a matter of fact, 8 of the last 12 1st overall picks are in our conference. |

i really think most of you need to calm the (frank) down. yes NJ has Hughes and NY Kakko. that doesn't mean all of our assets all of the sudden become completely irrelevant. the Flyers are in a critical stage in the development of a young team, it will come down to what Fletcher does with the hand he has been dealt. worry about what you can do right now to make the team better. not what everyone else is doing around you. |

GOOD!!! it makes for good hockey. There are other ways to get great players.....some of the greatest Flyers of all time were not drafted by the Flyers. I would rather watch skilled guys like Hirschier and now Jack Hughes then that poop show I had to watch with their defensive trap game 20 years ago.

You know, they've just gotta do their homework and select a good player at ten. Lots of good players taken around there. It's far from a hopeless situation.
If we go back a couple drafts, where kids have had time to develop, you can see some really nice picks around ten or after.
2015
Rantanen 10th
DeBrusk 14th
Barzal 16th
Connor 17th
2014
Larkin 15th
Sanheim 17th
Chabot 18th
Brayden Point 3rd round
2013
Horvat
Domi
Wennberg
Morrisey
Point is, there's some kids out there who can help the club. Patience will be involved though. |

Realistically last night put the Flyers in a Window to win scenario. With the way New York is rebuilding they will be a dominate powerhouse in 3-4 years. The Devils aren't as close but with 3 first overall picks on your team.... just saying they will likely be good for a long time. You still have to battle Crosby and the Penguins and Ove and the Caps.
If the Flyers can't win with this core in the next 3-5 years, I have a feeling like we are going to be one of those teams that are really good, but there are just going to be better out there. |

Ok, I see it from that angle, but certainly not because we dropped a spot. Thankfully these kids aren't suppose to be in the Crosby, Ovechkin, territory. Not projected anyways.

I don't think that a foregone conclusion. Lots of teams, over the past 15 years, have been rebuilding from the draft without much success, Edmonton, Buffalo, Florida and the NYI's to name a few. Conversely, lots have had success as well, like Washington, Pittsburgh and Chicago. There's more to it than first overall picks. |

It's being ridiculously overblown. It takes more than one player. Edmonton has had McDavid for how long now, as well as how many other top picks? What have they done?
