The logical segue to that: is Risto really getting that much in return in a trade? - kingcong39
If you'd asked me that last year Id say absolutely. Wasn't that long ago he was getting Hall.
Right shot d-men at the mid 20s age bracket go for way more than they should. maybe not risto anymore since its been year after year of struggles but in general. |

We need Pod and Byram gone early. We wont tale the Russian and I think our need at center forces us away from Byram.
Hughes
Kakko
Pod
Cozens
Byram
Turcotte
Leaves us with pick of the litter between Zegras, Dach and Krebs. Not bad. Can't say I am not disappointed to move back 2 spots. 6th was my hope, honestly. |

A very good player should be there at 7, but like you, I'd love it if Pod and Byram were off the board by then. |

If he falls to 7 I’ll cheer in the streets. I think we are in Boldy/Zegras/Dach territory now. - Pegullaville

So in the October and November games you cheer for neither wins nor losses? I need to see this team win games, and more importantly, I think the players on the team need to win. It seems there is real psychological damage being done to players and fans of this team.
How many more season of this is Jack going to want to stick around for? Will Dahlin be cool with pissing away ELC without a sniff of playoffs? Skinner could very well walk away from the loser stench of this franchise. And other players around the league can smell it as well. They're not all going to be shoving each other out of the way to line up and play with the immortal Kirby Dach (or whoever).
This past season was not some great success. - PrinceChill
Could have been Montreal. Could have gotten swept by 4 in the playoffs. What difference does the success of this season mean 3 years down the line ? We need elite talent any way we can get it. If Botts can swing for the fences this offseason and bring in some major talent and Mitts takes the next step we should be a playoff team. However if Botts doesn’t swing for the fences be prepared for another top 10 pick. Botts will get the axe but 4 years from now we’ll be praising a GM that provided us with the elite young core that we haven’t had since 2006. |

Missed half the season due to injury but has the 2nd highest PPG ever recorded by U18 U.S team player behind Hughes. Also has the most developed two way game out of all of the top Centre prospects. He isn’t as flashy as Zegras but I think his game will translate well to the show. |

I really like Dach, but I think thats just cause I like the idea of this team adding a two way centre and he's the guy that best fits the couturier mold. He may not be the BPA |

Holy S, kiss those guys goodbye. No way we draft one of them. Botts will only trade away second line centers. |

Should we all pretend that anything above the 2nd pick is bad? Is that what we're going to do? |

I think it’s just impatience. The guy we draft at the 7 spot could very well end up being awesome.
It just sucks that we have to wait for it. It’s been soooo long since this team has been competitive. It leads you down the rabbit hole towards, “well, what do we do about next year?”. This is where the GM needs to earn his money. Find the undervalued guys that are ready to make that next step and pry them away for pennies on the dollar.
Much more easily said than done, of course. |

JB will need to do a lot of work. Very few available roster spots, duds under contract, irrationally impatient fanbase. He may feel the need to try and do something in the offseason that appears to make the team better.
Or he could sit on his hands and wait for contracts to expire after next year, then do things. |

Things just aren’t as bad as they seem at all.
This is a flawed roster that got poor coaching and awful goaltending
That’s finding a good coach and goalie away from playoff contention.
Add natural growth from Olofsson, Mitts, Dahlin, Pilut, Thompson, Smith, and add a top 6 player via trade, we’re in a good spot. |

We were supposed to see more growth last year. Other teams are trying to get better too, and seemingly doing a better job at it.
But sure, a great coach, great goaltending, exponential growth and a trade for a top 6 player could be enough to eek us into the playoff picture. |
