Not true carol. I made a sh!t load betting Nolan wouldnt go first. He was a bad pick
- CanuckDon

My memory was that at lottery time, it was still generally expected that Patrick would go first, despite all his injuries that season. Then, it shifted by draft day, but I was still a little surprised to see a Swiss kid get the nod over a good Canadian boy.

I just saw Jim with David Amber. He said he thinks it'd be reallllly hard to trade up for Jack. But he mentioned the Canucks' good scouts, and that's a fair point.

When I think of picking outside the Top 10, I think of Boeser. None of us had a clue who he was when he got picked. He turned out all right

This whole lottery is a joke.

Need to show the lottery balls getting pulled.

The most annoying part is the Rangers and how so many feel their rebuild is ahead of ours, now they get a very good player possibly.
- manvanfan

Too be fair they started rebuilding before us, so they should be ahead....

Agreed.
Nice to hear that he knows where his shortcomings are and is going too be working 1 on 1 with a skating coach this off-season.

Truthfully I would take a EP40 QH43 and who ever we take this year any day over Kakko Kravstov Miller Ludqvist and Andersson
- VANTEL

Chytil, Howden, Hajek, Buchevech, Zibanajad are all good young players too but they dont have any stars in the system.

Edit. They also have another 1st this year.

It’s more annoying to me that the Canucks were in that 26th spot, tied with Anaheim for 26/27th, before they went 7-4-2 in their last 13 games. Not saying the lottery balls would’ve gone the same way, but still annoyed at Schaller and Granlund being responsible for some of those extra points

I was just saying I like our picks more. I think Hughes and Petey are going to be very special.

I hear you although I'm still not sold on Hughes being a top pairing guy.

The only reason I put NYR ahead is the number of picks and prospects they have acquired. I believe quantity trumps "drafting skill" when it comes to hitting bluechip prospects.

27th on central scouting rankings Boeser was.

Chicago was in 12th and won a spot. Where you finish has little barring in whether you get a lotto spot or not

Of course, but had they stayed in that 26-27 range they’d still be picking higher even if they dropped 3 spots

I have said all year how I feel about this draft. I think we were done a big favor by staying around 10 th.

I have said a few times I think Kakko Hughes are a repeat of Hischier Patrick. I think there is another Matt Barzal in the 10-17 range Benning just has to find him . I also think Seider is a very good choice. So I am not unhappy that we are picking 10 .

Hughes & Kakko are legit. It’s some of the guys after them who are questionable IMO. We’re going to be just fine at 10.

Did you read Carols blog?

You can miss 9 of 10 times and on the 10 th try you still have a 50/50 chance

Hishier was legit also. I believe both are legit . I don't believe they are elite.
