Why would NJ trade the first overall for next years 14th - 15th overall and mid round 2nd |

Haha I was being a bit facetious. NJ isnt trading their first overall for anyone's 1st and 2nd next year. |

2 more firsts - manvanfan
Rangers are guaranteed 2 1sts, with potential for 2 more 1sts in the Źuccarello deal and last years McDonough deal, so potentially 4 1sts this year. |

Legit what... Good? Yeah. Generational worthy of the hype he was getting? Nope. |

Yikes. They have sure given up a lot of very good players to get that though. |

EP wasn't taken first because of his weight most felt. Debrincat not a 1st rounder because of his height. Point a 3rd rounder because of his skating. Skill is skill. |

2 years in a row the Canucks were 1 number off from getting 1st overall lol. This will go over well with canuck fans. |

My memory was that at lottery time, it was still generally expected that Patrick would go first, despite all his injuries that season. Then, it shifted by draft day, but I was still a little surprised to see a Swiss kid get the nod over a good Canadian boy.
I just saw Jim with David Amber. He said he thinks it'd be reallllly hard to trade up for Jack. But he mentioned the Canucks' good scouts, and that's a fair point.
When I think of picking outside the Top 10, I think of Boeser. None of us had a clue who he was when he got picked. He turned out all right - Carol Schram
I placed a bet on Nico going first way back in November! Odds were great. I didn’t know much about Boeser either. Kid has the “X” factor just like EP and Bo (and hopefully Hughes). I suspect the hardest part about drafting is choosing between raw skill and character. Kids need both obviously if they are going to realize their potential. Wish they would push the draft age out a year to reduce some of the volatility. Also, it may be better for the kids development with less distractions at a younger age |
