When it comes to Finland they produce top wingers & D. Pretty good for a smaller nation.
Sweden tends to produce good C’s & D.
Russia i only give them wingers. Tells me they like scoring only & less so playing 200’ hockey. I question their intensity other than those who become superstars. They do have elite players but always wingers. OV Kucherov Tarasenko are my examples.
USA has a great program in place & produce at every position.
In Canada it’s either franchise players or risk/reward it seems. D imo is where safer picks are found & can be gold. Chabot - Nighthawk
Barkov is arguably the best young two-way center in the league. He’s finnish.
Two of the best offensive centers in the league right now, one of the best defensive centers ever, are russian.
US just has such a bigger population base, but each of these countries have produced some of the best in every position. It doesn’t really make any sense to judge between two wingers (fir example) on their bationality. This logic is garbage, especially as so many of these kids move to various places to follow their hockey dream. for example both Hughes did all their minor hockey in Toronto. Barkov played in both russia and sweden, but is finnish. This way of thinking where guys are only influenced by their country of origin is stale Don Cherry type logic imo |

They need do do something a little different, that is for sure.
They could start by dissolving the CHL and form an elite junior league, as the CHL has become a problem in several areas, like players not being eligible for AHL unless they have completed x amount of time in the league, plus far too many teams, that range in age from sometimes 15 year olds, up to 20 year olds.
Need too be tiered by age/ talent level. - Reubenkincade
The tie ring will never happen, teams change year to year. But I agree we need to do some things different, the US is producing some top end talent. Could also be that hockey is growing there and more kids are playing. We can’t compete with population. |

Doesn'take 60 minutes for them to tell us that Rangers Blackhawks and Red Wings will pick 1 2 and 3. |

I've been telling you for awhile that Jack has a sense of humour that we don't often see in...well, in any hockey players, but especially draft-eligible ones.
Check this out, from Josh Clipperton of Canadian Press:
Jack Hughes, with a smile, after he was asked if being a star player has always been his goal: "I'm mean, I didn't really dream of being a grinder." |

Non white immigrants don't play hockey as much as white people. Going forward I think that'll be a problem. |

Love answers like that. Hopefully the next gen of stars dials down the gee golly & cranks up the personality. You play a sport for million$, why so serious? |

More personality in the league is always a good thing, glad we're starting to see more characters emerge from the youth entering the league. |
