Not to mention that peabrained, incorrigible (frank)head Garth Snow tried to trade every single pick to CBJ so we could take Murray, who's spent probably 80% of his career on IR

They did well flipping the assets from that draft though:

Reinhart went for what amounted to Barzal and part of the package to trade up for Beauvillier

Pokka was the "centerpiece" of the deal for Leddy

Bischoff went along with some stuff to get VGK to take Grabovski

I love that the next 3 picks immediately after Reinhart are all top young defensemen. Reilly, Lindholm, Dumba

I was actually so annoyed that year that we didn't trade our first rounder (which ended up being Skjei) at the deadline for some more immediate help

I thought that 2012 team needed a little extra something but they were really good

who knows if there was something out there they could have acquired that would have helped them beat the Devils, but that series was so irritating

Rangers scout Mikko Eloranta spent 5 seasons with TPS as a player. Strong connection between the Rangers and TPS now makes a bit more sense. Reunanen (2016), Georgiev (2017) and Pajuniemi (2018) all added to the Rangers system while with TPS. Kaapo Kakko next? #NYR #HCTPS

To make myself feel better about the Rangers getting the 2nd overall pick. I'm emotionally insecure and unable to process bad news like an adult.

Also because I'm sure I'll be banned after I mock Tanner long enough and I want to get all my jabs in now.

You know, there are always a few picks in the 3rd-5th round that turn out to be real good NHLers. Most of them don't. A couple of teams have the benefit of having a little luck with those picks, and I really don't hold it against the organization when a fourth rounder doesn't pan out. A fourth round pick is basically a lottery ticket. We've had some luck also in the later rounds over the years, meaning we've hit our fair share of later round picks.

The Devs just had a good run that year and were a tough match up for us in general. I remember I think we swept the season series from them that year, but they gave us fits every single one of those games. I just remember wanting to play the Flyers instead.

Really sucks that team couldn't at least gone to the final. I will remember the 14 more fondly, but I had a soft spot for the workman like style of that 12 team. I really thought we were going to make a deep run in 13, but that was short circuited.

Nothing special. His poor kid is going to have to grow up with an actual dippoop for a father and that's a shame.

According to Dan Rosen, Alain Vigneault was officially named as head coach for Canada at the IIHF World Championships, along with his assistant coaches being Dave Hakstol, Kirk Muller, and .....
....Lindy Ruff.

Hopefully, A.V. lands an NHL head coaching job soon, (now that the Panthers for one team are no longer an option), and brings along those same assistants so that the Rangers defense would improve with Ruff then being gone, as he should have been back when A.V. was fired.
