I'm never been a doom and gloom guy. Honestly, I am there. I see no way that this team improves over the next couple seasons. We can hope they draft well and that in 2-3 that we have a team. Until then, we get to watch Eichel and Dahlin spin their tires.

We aren't getting an NHL ready forward with the pick. Will basically get the center that falls if we're lucky.
No great coaching options available.
Skinner probably walking.
Not much coming up in the pipeline.

Unsure how this team can be anything but bottom 8 next year too.

I know this past season was a major downer, especially after the 10-gamer...but it ain't all bad.

YES, a mountain of work to be done. It can be done however.
At 7 they are still getting a stud of a player, especially if the Russian and the Dman are picked in the top 6...that means only 3 other picks made before the Sabres from a good list of players.

Skinner is still a possibility. Botts will have to cave and pay a bit more than he is holding out for right now. Skinner said he needs to think about things...that means he is still seriously thinking about the existing offer...I am hoping that they aren't that far away and can meet in the middle.

There may be some great coaches available. Playoffs are just starting...there is likely to be a few that are freed-up. Plus a guy like Sheldon Keefe from Toronto's AHL Team the Marlies could be a guy like Jon Cooper in Tampa. there will be options.

There is FA and Trades to move-out some guys and bring in others. Done properly, they could add by both adding players and shipping a couple.

Who Knows about the pipeline, but Botts has shown through the last two drafts that his team can find some guys likely to play up in a year or so...no, maybe not next year outside of perhaps Borgen and Asplund later in the year.

Honestly, I'm to the point where I hope they let Skinner walk and attempt another mini rebuild. We aren't 1 or 2 years away like I thought. It's just depressing, sorry for the Eeyore mode today.

DON'T hire Todd McLellan !!!! If Buffalo does,you WILL see marked improvement for about 4 years and you WON'T get past the 2nd round of any playoff series. Check the record. By all means, let LA have him

I would love it if we nab the D man (Byrum?) at 7 and also get the goalie (Knight?) in the 20s. Then go all in for Dutch, Hoffman, Hayes in FA to fill out the top 6. Rochesters top line becomes our 4th line.....boom.
