Sure you don't get the pick of that litter from 3-6, but that field of Boldy, Dach, Cozens, Zegras, Turcotte, Podkolzin, Byram, Krebs, and maybe even Cauflield. We're on solid ground.

Second, they need to clear cap space, so they will probably throw in a high priced, low value asset like Cally. Lastly, you may be right about compensation (probably right) so perhaps they throw a pick or prospect in there like Foote or hopefully Cernak.

Second point, of course there's no certainty, but he's the best trade chip we have. Someone will see the value he brings to the offense and may have plans to protect him dzone minutes. As we should have done for years. Of course, we can sign a guy like Hayes. But unloading a redundancy and liability in Ristolainen is probably good asset management. Especially when you're turning that liability into an advantage, you pull the level.

The Rays are off to a good start, maybe it's their year to win the AL East. My Red Sox are crap, pitching is awful as well but it's a long season. Matters not because I'm still happy as heck we won the WS last year. Feels good when your team wins a championship. Maybe some day we'll feel that way about the Sabres.
