Do you guys think Saad, Gus, and Forsling for Trouba and Copp is a fair hockey trade?

they won three cups without big time hitting or a great forecheck...

this myth that a team can't win unless they plow guys through the glass or take cheap shots all over the ice really gets old and is false...

WRONG!

Only face offs and checking matter. Only face offs and checking win championships. FACT!

So how much would Nelson cost? He's looking good in the Pens series especially taking Murrays vision away.

Lou isn't letting him get away. Would love Nelson but think he will re-sign with the Isle.

You forgot face punchers, championship teams also need face punchers.

Just on a money basis, don't think the Jets would want to take on Saad's salary.
Also, Do you think paying Trouba ~8M is something you would want to do? Like Trouba. Not sure I like him at that price. 6M? For sure. Think he is going to get more than 6M, tho.

It is interesting that now there are so many teams that have started to get stuck in the Cap muck similar to the one that caused the Ladd and Buff departures.

These teams will not be dealing from a strength.

I am liking Turcotte more and more.
He also fits the faster new game and is thick skilled and confident and likes to work down low.
So the question becomes for the long term success of this organization, when the Kane / Toews deals end in 2023, which prospect at three will most likely be able to fulfill top line (s) success, and best with the younger pieces we see are beginning to entrench themselves?

I have my top two round mock profiles up and the true sleeper mike be this big Russian defenseman named Daniil Misyul - he is tough, fluid and glides the attack zone causing havoc and looks.

Jets won't save much on salary for a couple of years if Saad costs them 6M and Troubz would fost them 6-7. I think they would want one of the Hawks d prospects thrown in there instead of a higher salary.

Fun fact from the NHL via The Athletic.

Not sure what it has to do with the right here and the right now, but the NHL unearthed a bizarre stat coming off Smith’s shutout win in the opener. Smith now has a .947 save percentage through 20 career playoff games, which amounts to the best save percentage of all NHL goaltenders since 1955-56 that have played a minimum of 15 games. Small sample size, yes, but Smith was a goalie that a vocal few figured should be run out of town on a rail after a slow start earlier this season.

Of course, you also have to consider that Smith hadn’t appeared in an NHL playoff game since the 2012 Phoenix Coyotes run to the Western Conference finals, where he recorded three shutouts in 16 starts and conjured up an impressive 1.99 goals-against average. That’s more than 2,500 days between playoff stars – and among goalies who’ve played entirely in the expansion era, only Brian Boucher and Sean Burke had gone longer between playoff wins.

With all his golf success, he remains an adulterous sleaze, who cheated on his wife dozens of times with multiple partners, abused prescription medication and drove under the influence at least once. Not my definition of a role model.

The 2010 team could match up and play pretty much any style. The other teams were better than everyone skillwise and almost all the players cou;ld play through physical play. Unlike Toronto who have too many players unwilling to take hits to make plays.
- paulr

I still like my chances more going in with a physical team. I remember that 2010 team when Big Buff took Pronger for a ride along the boards.
We had enough talent on those teams which controlled the puck so much that physicality was not needed though. That is not the case anymore.

These people (men and women) aren’t role models - and any parents who point to them as such is doing a disservice to their children.

They are sports stars - entertainers - people to watch for their incredible athletic and competitive skills, but nothing more.

Lots of sleaze in sports, on and off the fields of play.

I’m glad he won because of the entertainment value.

You need enough physical play to engage in and win board battles, establish and maintain position at the net, move opponents away from your goalie.

You don’t need the bone crushing checks (nice if you can get them, not necessary fo4 victory); you certainly don’t need the brutality of Charo. You certainly don’t need the stupidity of Kadri and Kucherov.
