The tradition is to give the eyeballs to anyone who is crazy enough to marry into this family. Tell them they have to eat them to be accepted.

The series is not over yet. Will true grit prevail? There is a lot of talent on many playoff rosters but this series proves it is not talent alone that is the only deciding factor
- jhawk59

With very few exceptions playoffs have always proven talent alone won't win the cup. True Grit laughed at the idea defense is still THE most important part of hockey and he also laughed at the notion old school coaches were still viable. Well defense, good coaching and hard work has a talented but unprepared Tampa team on the ropes. Unlikely they can win 4 in a row but they do have the talent pull it off provided they play the next 240 minutes like they did in tonight's third period.

You're in the family and you think eating eyeballs is the craziest reason to marry into the family?!?!

The team that averaged almost 4 goals per game - has scored 5 in 3 games, 2 in the last 8 periods.

CBJ defense - and Bob after the first period of the series....

I have heard some epecially gifted players seem to have eyes in the back of their head

Once heard an announcer say Magic Johnson makes passes with handles attached.

Cozens has a lot going for him but not such lofty compliments as those.

Kane and Marner are my current top sick good talent players.

i would take Turcotte as of right now.

We will have about 45 or so for us. Keeping the tradition alive. These kids have it much easier. A few years back we motorized out spit so there is no arguing about who has to turn the lamb. lol

- Elbows15

LOL... Same here brother my kids don't believe that I used to take turns with my cousins turning the spit. I hope we can at least enjoy a good day.

I think they'd have to give Cooper another kick at the can but all the pressure would be on him and his core next year. Copper is being schooled by an Old School coach so far, can he find a way to win tonight?
- paulr

There is some truth to what your last sentence says. A lot will disagree with me but I’ve always liked coaches like John Tortorella. And is much is I said give Colleton a shot. When this team is ready to win again I don’t think he is the guy. I think it will be one of those old-school coaches,Speaking of coaches I would love to see the Hawks bring back Trent Yawney as one of Colleton’s assistants next season if it is in the cards.

yes!

and I thnk you wait a year on both.

Dach, well, he very well may be the Getzlaf too.

The game keeps morphing and I think speed is a large criteria.

Cozens WILL grow, plays TOEWS LIKE. (some think he is Kesler angry at times...)

Turcotte is the hidden upside guy who could be an Dylan Larkin

Got to ask, what if the Rangers go off the board and take either the Russian kid or the defenseman. Do the Hawks then grab Kappo Kakko with the third pic? Any validity that the Rangers may entertain something like that.

I wouldn't complain if they took Cozins with Kakko still there. Cozins is what this team needs badly more than Kakko. We already have Kane and DeBrincat as dynamic scorers.

Something must interest the #1 or #2 team with those choices. You have to ask yourself? Is not only the russian but also Hughes worth taking with a top two pick? Because if the way the game is played now IF you can get size plus speed and skill, you could swap a #1 or #2 for the #3 overall. Or just go ahead and do not draft the russian or Hughesr with first or second.

All that to segway into this: does Mark Kelly and Bowman worry incessantly about whom they are left to pick at #3 and therefore trade a prospect just to ensure they will be able to move up even one slot? It could mean we are assured to choose either Cozens or Kakko.

- jhawk59

The Russian is in reality, not in the conversation at #2, no matter how much I try to think it so....
Right now Hughes is flat out the guy who checks all boxes even though he is slight.
Best player period.
Next best player Kaako and he plays in the Fall unless he breaks his leg.

Trade the pick because they might pick a guy who may not turn in a career that is "less great" than a guy they chose not to pick?

It seems like an argument like Staal, Toews, Nic Backstrom, Phil Kessel were bad picks when Eric Johnson goes first overall. Where the fans in Pittsburgh angered they didn't get Toews later? The Hawks that they missed out on big Jordan Staal or playmaker Backstrom or scorer Kessel.

I don't think Kelley or Bowman stress out until Podkolzin becomes Ovechkin.
because they are getting a really fine player and basically the pick of the rest.
Or you know what? Maybe they feel they simply cannot pass on Podkolzin b/c they feel he is gonna be far more dominant than all the others....
If they do, they may have a better idea on his high water mark, whether he is here next October, or in a decade...
I keep hear a chorus of bumbling yahoo draftniks saying there is this qualitative drop, BUT think about it:
How many drafts in your lifetime have to watched where the truly BEST guy, the impact guy came far from the top echelon (and the top TWO are usually always quality impact players) Morgan Reilly Trouba Forsberg, Monahan, Marner at #4,Mark Scheifele @#7, Mikko Rantanen at #10, Matthew Tkachuk at #6, Elias Pettersson at #4, Brady Tkachuk @#4....my point is the only time a team flubs at slot three is when there were defenseman taken there that than never met up to the NHL standards.

so...they will have to decide but unless Turcotte, Podkolzin, Dach and Cozen quit developing this August, they look like terrific options at guys who can play, not fully developed, and sure, one may be better, but all should develop.

But above I mentioned those great selections a bit later, do you hear the teams that chose not to select them hearing the criticism from their fan bases now?

The key is drafting a player that is a NHLer then you fans are sorta happy, right?

Impossible to pass on Kappo Kakko at #3

I am fairly certain top 2 are solid...

The big KarASS with his stimulating hockey talk. You are a big Northern Redneck. Go hangout with your Spit and talk about meat, your cousins and what 9th Defenseman might make Chi(town) pitiful defense better. You are a joke

Kinda amusing a Tennessee interloper is here calling redneck at people.

I start to think that our communities are lacking in diversity, that many c communities never met people of greek heritage, or folks that like to BBQ lamb on a spit.

If AMERICA has a chance to advance our thinking we need to be mixing....not ripping!

But Karras was trolling there, ripping their players today so, u get what you get...

I believe you, wiz. I truly do have great faith and highly respect all the effort, time, thought that goes into your draftsite.com review.

Tell you what, though. When our team has been criticized for lack of size or just physicality as well as grit, you want to gravitate toward Cozins and not slight sized Hughes.
