The Nash-bashers ignore this point, but that is the real reason we didn't lift the Cup that year, IMO.

- Tonybere

Nash had 3 goals in 25 playoff games that. 2 of them in blow outs agains the Habs. 1 which was critical in game 2. Nash choking was a huge part of that. Let's not gloss over that fact.

i'm still in shock we got two.

it would have been so rangers to jump into the lottery only to get 3. not that i would have been mad about that but to get 2 and have a choice at either hughes or kakko is awesome.

i also dont think there's anyway the devils pass on hughes.

Sporting news mock draft 3.0.

He’ll be the highest draft pick in Blueshirts history, joining Hall of Fame defenseman Brad Park, who went second overall in 1966.

i know they've been retiring everyones number lately, but his #2 should be up there w/ leetch's

I realize I am in minority here, but why wouldn't we pay a good price to get Fox? If he really projects to be a top-4 right-handed defenseman --- I mean that is the unicorn for hockey --- how could you balk at a 2nd round pick? Or a lesser player and a 3rd?

This whole notion that Carolina is in a position of weakness is absurd. That is why he is available in the first place!
NOBODY trades young, quality, RH defenseman ----- NOBODY! Fox was previously traded in a larger deal. We only got D'Angelo because of his "issues" which still plague him occasionally now.

Here is my fear: we don't make Canes a legit offer, he goes back to school and suffers a near- serious injury. This scares him into saying WTF am I playing for free for? And then he signs with Carolina and our opportunity is lost.

In the scheme of things, do we really want to draw that line in the sand over a 2nd round pick? Am I really seeing this wrong?

- TommyGTrain

He also could go back to school, have another big year and tell Carolina sayonara as expected. It’s asset management. The Canes own his rights now but he has told them he wants to explore the market and won’t sign there. I want him but don’t think Carolina is in a major position of strength, though they think they are.

nothing against Brad Park, but I think the '72 finals team that didn't win the Cup has been honored enough

It's crazy that he played more and scored more for the Bruins. What a bad trade.

When we went to the finals in 14 didn't we also have the worst powerplay?

it's wayy before my time, and yeah they've been retiring em at the same clip as the 94 team it seems like but its not like #2 isnt already up there.

i can only go by what my father's told me about park, and what i've read/seen on highlights.

plus, he's my father's favorite ranger so i'm biased on his behalf

I'm in the minority probably, but I only think jerseys should be retired for being exceptional.

the thing is, even though they never should have traded Park & Ratelle, they still received very good players back in Esposito and Vadnais who contributed big time to a finals run

they've made worse trades where they literally got nothing back

- jimbro83

1972 was a culmination of the rise under Emile Francis and overall, was a much better team. 1979 came out of nowhere and is viewed as an aberration.

to me, if they retire another number, Gresch has to go before Park

somebody from 1979 needs to be honored

But seriously, I actually don't think Graves or Richter should have had their numbers retired.

Graves is one of my all time top 3 favorite Rangers, but lets be honest, they don't win that cup neither would have had their jersey retired.

Mike richter had 301 wins. Most in the history of the franchise before Lundqvist...
