Neither he nor AV would be a bad choice, but it's nothing to get excited about imo. It's fine. - jcragcrumple

“You’d rotate four lines until there was 10 minutes left and then go down to three lines and then you go down to two lines the last two minutes. …In Sweden, it was very common to have four very even lines.”
Grönborg instead prefers to carve out specific roles and assign tasks. He is keen on communication so that expectations are clear and believes that the next generation of players will require more feedback than ever before because of the world in which they were raised.
“There’s so many X’s and O’s out there—I think most coaches coaching at that level, they know their X’s and O’s—but how do you get the players to grow in your environment?” he said. “Because that’s the biggest key for me. How do you communicate with those players? How did you get them to excel and become better and buy into the system? That’s what I’m intrigued about, is how you develop the players.” - homiedclown
i like what he says and i think it could work.. but will they take the risk after taking one on housely and losing |

You're preaching to the choir, but we both know Gronborg won't happen |

High risk, high reward. As expected.
Tell me though. If it was your ass on the line, and you've already struck out with one rookie coach, would you hire another? - TheSabresTaco
he didn't hire phil, kim and terry did
I think this team needs a coach that develops the young kids, not lean on vets |

you spelled gronborg wrong - homiedclown I've always been intrigued by him...figured the failures of phil would push a first-time nhl coach like him down the list...
I don't know a lot about him other than he's done a great job with team-Sweden...do you think that will transfer to the nhl and do you think Botterill can afford to take a chance on an outsider?

Don't get me wrong, I love the things he says. But there's still nothing that tells me he can put pen to paper. It's a huge risk. And I highly doubt it's the type of risk this GM takes for this particular team in it's stage of growth. I want innovative, communicative, control of the room, defensive awareness, offensive growth, lineup decisions that's aren't (frank)ing stupid, and above else, a teacher that can truly relay his message to the players. I end this thought with, I have no (frank)ing idea who that coach is.

It's Taylor's job to develop, it will be the new coaches job to implement the system to make them better.
I heard McLellan, Jacques Martin and AV, you think any can do that. |

we have dahlin so I answer yes to all
IMO it's a no brainer
I don't need to hire Alain Vigneault, Kirk Muller, or Todd Nelson.
If they hire Barnes, we are doomed |

if he didn't hire Phil what does it matter what he wants in the next coach.. should we be asking what Kim wants in the next coach |

that's one player...
their time to think out of the box ended with the Housley experiment, imo, and I don't care who hired him...botts has his job, and assumed lucrative salary, on the line these next couple of years...I don't think he goes that route |

Good question. Darryl Sutter. Joel Qunneville. Barry Trotz. Claude Julien. Peter Laviolette. Pat Burns.
That's all from this century. |

and how many of those coaches took their team from nowhere to win a cup?
Julien, Laviolette and Burns?
anyone could have won with those other stacked teams, and we are not a stacked team |

fwiw, Button seems to think Martin is just a non starter in the coaching search. Same with Lindy |
