Exactly. This team should be up another 5 spots next year with some changes to the roster. Now...what will those changes be? lol - LordHumungous
Which teams do you think they will pass to gain 5 spots? |

No offence to you but if Botchford, who probably knows more than both of us combined because he is around the business thinks that Demko and OJ could get you 4oa. Adding in 10oa and another 2nd is - manvanfan
OJ sucks in his own end . He has been injured half the games since being drafted. I wonder what GM would be licking their chops to get a piece of that action?
How many top 5 picks have been been traded in the last 10 years? I remember the #9 going 6 years back but not a lot since then.
BTW shame on you for listening to Botch. |

No one has any idea if Bowen sucks in his own end vs pro's either. Nobody has any idea if he is going to be injured next season.
I doubt many people thought that JV was going to struggle so much. Probably why you see Byram anywhere from 3-10 in mock drafts. |

Because the cost is too high and almost never worth it. |

I didn’t say that. I don’t think winning 4 more games gets them higher in the standings. I think it will take 96 points to make the playoffs next year, that’s 8 more regulation losses turned to victories. You can call them a bubble team if you like, but I think they miss the playoffs by a significant margin again. Unless of course if they sign Karlsson and Panarin and trade for Trouba. |

Well there ya go.
So maybe Demko or MD and OJ won't get it done right? I think if that was the going rate you would have 30 teams making offers. |

And yet you think a goalie and a busted 1st round pick will get you the 4th overall selection |

I said yesterday I think they can get 4 more wins just by dumping Poulot alone. I stand by that. |

Yes. I was wrong but they are still a long ways from being a playoff team. - Marwood
I think they will probably miss the WC next season because we are retaining Tanev-Edler. Year after we should be right in the WC mix. |

It's really not a question of certain teams just that they have the potential to move up. There are always teams in the top 20 that trend downward. Philly and Minny to name a few. |

Lordy suggested a five place jump in the standings. I just don’t think that’s realistic or reasonable. Every team, even the cup champions will be looking to improve on their areas of weakness in the off season. Some teams will be more successful than others. The five teams directly above Canucks are:
Philadelphia
Minnesota
Chicago
Arizona
Florida
That also assumes that none of the teams behind them improve more than the Canucks do. Edmonton has two players with 100 points, if they figure it out they could easily be a playoff team. Buffalo could be the first half team, or the second half team, who knows.
A successful season in my opinion would be a marginal improvement in the win/loss column even if they finish around the same place in the standings. As long as they don’t chase the playoffs by trading away picks/prospects or signing some retarded UFA contracts I’ll be happy. |

CBJ is the interesting one on that list. They could potentially be starting a 10 year rebuild from scratch! |

Yep. I said we'd be around 85 pts this year and we managed 81. 4-5 more reg season wins next year will get us close to 90 and still may miss the WC. Petey-Marky factor this year and no Sedins defensively translated to more reg season wins.
Hughes and few Summer changes next season will provide the same about 4-5 more reg season wins. The Edler-Tanev injuries will hurt us again though. Really wish we would move on from those two but what can you do? |

Are you sure you don't want to wait a while and think about it? 3/8 correct. (Don't worry I only got 2/5)
Edit: My bad 4/8 |

I think they will loose Panman Bob Dzingle Duchene with Korpisalo as the top goalie. |

We all like to mock Button's rankings greatly
Maybe once in a while Botch included actually knows what they are talking about. (it's rare) |
