From what I read, it's more a numbers game than anything else. I don't think he is as polished defensively as some of the other guys as well.
I see him expendable more because of the prospects ready to take the next step. Both Hague and Coghlan have been great in the AHL and Whitecloud has been good too. - belcherbd
Think it would cost someone like Goldy or Gaunce +. He's only a season removed from 41 points. They need cost certainty, but also need to replenish their team. We don't have too many D to trade away, unless they want Sautner or another AHL cusp guy - NewYorkNuck
I think it's a big plus if those are the players. I think it probably is JV +.
Weird, I didn't see it live, but didn't think it was that bad. - belcherbd
Pretty bad, definitely suspension worthy. Trips him, waits a second or two, skates at him when he's in a compromised and vulnerable position. Ends up hitting him pretty high too:

Definitely a suspension, should have been 3 games.
Classless play.

yeah, that's a b!tch move. Should've been 2 or 3 games.
As much as I hate to say it. Canucks are doing the rebuild right,. Getting rid of the players that don’t fit in to long term plans is a good idea, picking up players like Pearson and Leivio (?) were good moves.
I love the Calgary Vancouver rilvery, just means I’ll hate the Canucks sooner. - K-man25
Predictions were made last summer I believe. I don't think anyone league wide expected Flames to finish second place.
The more active teams last year,Flames Habs Hurricanes St L made the biggest splashes last year.
Habs finished lower than we did the previous year but were very active in the summer and went down to the last 2 games before being eliminated.
I want to see Canucks active with trades this year. I think if we did not play the season last year with Andersson Pouliot Gudbrandson Hutton we would have had at least 8 more points.
I like our team going into next year and think we have a chance at being a playoff team . The question is what moves and how much better we are. - VANTEL
So, you’re saying JB has done a great job and is just a couple pieces from the playoffs?
Kidding aside, JB has had a learning curve as a GM. His last teo years have been his best and i honestly think despite some really bad ufa signings that he has really managed to build a strong new core in qh/stech/bo/bb/ep/demko as well as the many young guys playing key roles and developing.
The real idiots are his defenders. - A_SteamingLombardi

He’s still learning. Year 6 coming up, he should be a great GM by year 12.
I don’t think he’s an actual idiot though, just way in over his head as a president/GM.

Yes he accidentally keeps drafting great players, finding ncaa free agents that become core players and whatever other good he’s done. It’s the poopty mistakes that are on purpose

Name them
The fact he was shopping the Juolevi/Boeser picks for Subban and Lucic should terrify all Canuck fans.
Troy Stecher. I didnt mean to pluralize it. But it’s arguably his best ufa signing and he gets zero credit for it on this board. I do like the look of Rafferty too.
Yup. He’s done pretty good for a guy that was in over his head from the jump and TL didnt do him many favors id imagine. - neem55
Disagree with “pretty good job” but FA rolling with a first time President, GM and Head Coach who didn’t even appear to be on the same page is just brutal management/ownership.

He falls under the Hamhuis tree for me, both guys wanted to play at home. They just needed reasonable offers.
Reminds me of when someone here(forgot who) wanted to give Benning credit for signing Granlund when he was a RFA with no leverage and not even an established NHL’er yet. That’s about as easy as a negotiation gets for GM’s.
