Logistically, because he isn't eligible for the playoffs. He's also guaranteed a roster spot here next year, so there's that. And he's probably banged up after playing 79 games for the first time ever.

I know, you do have an affinity for shrimps, lol.

There is a difference in contract lenghth though.

Callahan at 33 has 1 Year left at $5.8m
Johnson at 28 has 5 years remaining at $5.0m.

Johnson is far more productive at this point, no doubt.
However I wouldn't want 5 more years of him.
