Looked okay to me Lums - shack67
I can see both sides on it - but the head contact is not deliberate - there's no intent to hit the head from what I can see.
But he definitely charged across the ice to hit him. My view is that it wasn't a 5, and shouldn't be suspendable. But you can argue it was blindside . . .
If someone did it to a Leaf . . . I'd be shocked if we got a 5 minute major out of it. I wouldn't like the hit.

I detest head shots but I don’t think that was one. He came from a long ways but I think he was just gliding when he hit him.
True. He wasn't still in charge. I think Brind'Amour has every right to be mad. Ovechkin got 2 for elbowing when he jumped into a guy's head. - Monkeypunk
I was just about to bring up the Ovi hit from earlier....bad time of year for the refs to be getting the calls wrong....I sadly think it’s going to cost a team a series at some point

That Ovechkin one was really dirty. Elbow right in the beak.

The silver lining is the ref team doing the worst wont get to the next round.
I really would have enjoyed something like the Canes beating the Bruins in round one....winning the series at home and celebrating after....I’m certain Cherry would have a stroke at that point - RatedR80
They aren't doing those after game celebrations in the playoffs.
Just lackluster and a let down. The show peaked at the trinity. - Aaron_85
I always felt like they shot their wad too soon in season one. The ice truck killer and Dexters origin story could have been the main storyline for the whole show

Bingo.
Ferlands hit was okay. If he gets a suspension then Ovi gets that plus 1.

The more I see it, the more I know there isn't going to be a suspension, but hopefully the refs are undressed for not doing their jobs by the series supervisor.
It's a bad call.
But hey . . .Kuch deserved more than 1, and if McDavid was suspended for clipping a guy at 6km/h, Ovi should get suspended for leaping into a guy's face with his shoulder.
NO ONE KNOWS! It's like the new Star Trek. How can they (frank) up everything we thought we understood now?

I'm sure that if you go back through the years, you can pick out many games like that.
(frank), for the Leafs alone there's the obvious Gretzky high stick on Dougie that didn't get called and would have given them a double minor to put the game away. There's also game 7 from 2013 where the refs literally let the Bruins do anything with no repercussions (whether Marchand delaying the game by tossing his water bottle on the ice, or this chicken-poop elbow by Kelly - they call those penalties and the game could well have ended differently)

I expect a lot of this tonight, over the line plays that wont get called because the refs expect that from the Bruins. Backes will be running guys all night. The refs will 100% call the retaliations and miss the dirty stuff, hopefully the Leafs can keep their composure and pull out the win.

That has bugged me forever about hockey. The 'They'll call the retaliator' mentality. Growing up everyone I know always lived under the rule, 'Don't start it, but if someone else starts it, you finish it.'
Why is hockey the one place where they reward the idiot who starts things?
